Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Sociology Department seeks to advance sociological knowledge and the public's understanding of society through research and teaching at the highest levels of the discipline. We work to generate significant social scientific advances that push the field forward, provide outstanding education opportunities to our graduate and undergraduate students, and enhance the public's understanding on questions of major societal importance. Position Summary |
The Temporary Research Assistant position will support an ongoing interview-based project in Sociology beginning Summer 2025. The position will be responsible for wide-ranging administrative and research tasks. Activities include, but are not limited to the following: attending weekly meetings with PI and other research assistants (Zoom conferencing), managing and cleaning 4 waves of Qualtrics survey data, conducting statistical analysis of survey data, designing and testing new survey questions, conducting qualitative phone interviews (up to 3 hours per interview, up to 5 per week), manually coding interviews using
QDA software (Dedoose), and training undergraduate and graduate research assistants in these tasks. The position reports to the faculty PI for weekly tasks. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |

Prior experience using Dedoose. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Course work in Sociology and experience in using Dedoose. |
