This position is site-based and requires a presence on-site three days per week.

Summary

In this role, the Senior Director, Enterprise Projects and Initiatives will be responsible for the successful delivery of large-scale, transformational cross-functional programs and projects. In this role, the Senior Director will be responsible for partnering with business leadership to ensure project and program scopes are strategic aligned with clear and measurable outcomes aligned to the company's overall strategic goals. In addition, the Senior Director will provide strategic, and outcomes-focused oversight, management and coaching to other strategic project managers, business leads and cross-functional team members ensuring successful delivery of project objectives. The Senior Director will partner with the Head of Enterprise Projects and Initiative to enable and steward cross-functional, enterprise project prioritization and planning in partnership with executive and senior leadership and with other planning functions.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions

* Partner with senior leadership to translate ambiguous, intangible business needs into clear business outcomes and measurable project objectives

* Partner with senior leadership to shape and inform large-scale, global and transformational projects and develop robust strategic project plans to support execution of these projects

* Oversee global, complex cross-functional project, programs and/or initiatives from beginning to end ensuring project governance framework is "fit-for-purpose" to scope, size and complexity for each project

* Partner with and business sponsor(s), head of enterprise projects and initiatives, and project business and IT leads to gain alignment around the critical/key success measures and outcomes to track, manage and report on success of overall project

* Develop, maintain and oversee end-to-end integrated project plans enabling the right level of task planning to maintain line of sight to critical path, that resource and budget needs are clear, and that identifies critical dependencies

* Work closely and actively with other assigned project managers and business leads and determine ways of working that encourages accountability for project team roles and responsibilities, that drives adoption of project communication and escalation protocols and that advocates for collaborative problem-solving

* Actively oversee and track progress against baseline plan, anticipating risk to critical path and/or dependencies and facilitate risk and issue resolution; Measure progress and monitor performance (overall, scope, schedule, costs, quality)

* Support the enterprise project budget planning, informing and guiding preliminary budget and resource assessment and forecasts, and tracking forecast to actuals

* Develop simple ways of providing project status updates to all key audiences (executive leadership, senior leadership project teams and SME's) maintaining broad awareness of project status, risks and expectations for action.

* Encourage and share good practices across teams, anticipate potential collision points, support resolution of workstream challenges and/or ask probing questions to surface unrealized risk or opportunities

* Lead, motivate, manage and support assigned project managers, business leads and others to ensure adherence to process and procedures and to maximize contribution to effectiveness and efficiency

* Regularly prepare for and present and report to executive management, senior management, and workstream leads on overall project performance, status against the critical success factors and other key risks or opportunities that emerge

* Ensure project objectives are met within the constraints of project scope, time, cost, and quality

* Resolve conflicts and escalates issues in an effective manner

* Conduct post project implementation reviews to document lessons learned and provide to organization to update applicable methodology, tools, templates

* Actively promotes safety rules and awareness.

* Demonstrate good safety practices at all times including the appropriate use of protective equipment. Reports and takes initiative to correct safety & environmental hazards.

Basic Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree; Masters' Business Administration (MBA), or advanced degree preferred.

* 15-20 years' relevant project/program management experience within the pharmaceutical / life science industry

* Previous experience participating in or leading large-scale, enterprise, global or transformational projects or programs at a mid-size to large-scale organization

* Strong understanding of expectation for operating within a highly regulated industry

* Ability to influence without authority and operate in a highly matrixed, cross-functional environment

* Demonstrated ability to build cross-functional and matrix team engagement, balancing healthy deliberation and inclusion while also maintaining and prioritizing key timelines

* Expertise in establishing cross-functional standards in support of business operations systems, especially as they impact and influence multiple departments and levels of management.

* Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills in English, with an ability to interact at all levels of the organization.

* Ability to see and communicate a stated vision, understand the strategy and align tactics to the strategy.

* Strong and effective strategic thinker and problem solver with high degree of emotional intelligence, with the ability to both recognize and anticipate problems.

* Ability to both recognize and anticipate problems. Possesses the ability to translate solutions into viable action plans at an enterprise level that are effectively disseminated and implemented through cooperation of stakeholders.

* Experience managing and resolving issues, risks, and conflicts

* Proven ability to operate independently, with minimal direct day-to-day supervision
