Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Athletic Academic Advisor for Academic Support Services.
Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Provides sound academic advisement for student athletes.
  • Guides student athletes through the academic progress, drawing on knowledge and proficiency of NCAA rules and the academic standards of schools within the University.
  • Works with assigned coaches and team to plan enhanced support services.
  • Manages the data collection and distribution of information to various university personnel as directed such as athletic and academic administration.
  • Works in conjunction with the Director, Director of Eligibility and Manager of Student Athlete Certification to track student athlete's progress in relation to NCAA guidelines.
  • Participates in recruitment activities.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in educational counseling, psychology, sociology, student personnel services or related field plus two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Familiarity with database systems.
  • Ability to learn new office systems, as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in working with students and/or student athletes.
