The School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology, is seeking anAdministrative Coordinator to support the work of the Cochlear Center for Hearing and Public Health. This position reports to the Academic Program Administrator in conjunction with the Associate Director for Academic Training and the Director. This position works closely with the academic team and has administrative responsibility for the coordination of complex academic program elements requiring collaboration with staff, students, faculty, and other departments and programs.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides administrative support for Cochlear Center-sponsored academic activities and trainee research opportunities (Seminars, Research-in-Progress meetings, Journal Clubs, etc.) to include facilitating in-person, virtual, and hybrid meetings, reserving event space, securing AV support, ordering and helping set up and clean up catering, sending calendar invitations and reminders.
  • Provides administrative support for larger annual activities such as Cochlear Center Research Day.
  • Calendar management for the Director and the Associate Director for Academic Training. Manage a complex calendar, including responding to meeting requests in a timely manner. Ability to understand work and priorities for calendar availability.
  • Works closely with the Communication Associate and the Communication Student Intern on Center communications.
  • Assists with the orientation of new trainees to the Cochlear Center for Hearing and Public Health.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive and supportive environment to ensure that the educational and professional needs of trainees are met.
  • Assists Cochlear Center faculty with administrative duties, including reimbursements and scheduling.
  • May support faculty research by providing administrative assistance with the preparation of research manuscripts, including formatting tables and figures, organizing references, and copy editing.
  • May provide support to student groups.
  • May independently manage specific program activities.

Special Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Ability to work independently and use reference manuals to develop proficiency with software or computer systems.
  • Good organizational, written, and verbal communication skills in the preparation and presentation of results.
  • Good interpersonal skills in dealing with investigators and a "team-oriented" approach.
  • Able to effectively prioritize and work on multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines, and demonstrate excellent time management skills and efficiency.


Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent.
  • Three years related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education beyond HS Diploma/graduation equivalent, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.

The referenced base salary range represents the low and high end of Johns Hopkins University's salary range for this position. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. Education and Experience Equivalency
Please refer to the job description above to see which forms of equivalency are permitted for this position. If permitted, equivalencies will follow these guidelines: JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
