Job Description

The Engineering Assistant performs standard work in support of department needs. Duties may include data and records management, conducting, analyzing, and researching information, as well as project support and working directly with customers. This role will also support emergency response operations when needed.

The Engineering Assistant is responsible for upholding the safety compliance standards inherent in PSE's operating and/or field procedures related to work responsibilities. Additionally, this role promotes and supports a culture of total safety.

This role is also expected to demonstrate a commitment to conduct business honestly, ethically, and consistent with our core values and Code of Conduct, as well as ensure duties are performed in accordance with all regulatory compliance obligations.

This job is considered "safety sensitive" as defined in RCW 49.44.240 and is subject to pre-employment drug screening that includes screening for the presence of marijuana and marijuana metabolites.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform various tasks in support of department needs using applications and tools specific to job assignments and discipline. Examples may include:

    • Reviewing and assessing data and records for accuracy and completeness.
    • Documenting research for system compliance requirements.
    • Creating and updating data and records in the system of record and GIS applications.
    • Performing data and records management.
    • Working directly with customers to make access arrangements.


  • Ensure compliance with codes, standards, and design requirements.
  • Update department standards, templates, processes, and tools.
  • Support emergency response work as requested, including immediate and extended restoration efforts driven by weather and other system failures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School graduate with technical field experience or drafting certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Effective communication and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with PC software.

Desired Qualifications

  • Utility experience, knowledge of subject matter within assigned area of focus.
  • Experience working with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and as part of a team to drive results.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, as well as problem solving, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Experience using a variety of business applications and analysis tools such as: Visio, PowerPoint, Excel, MS Word, Power BI, and SAP modules.
  • Experience using GIS.

The pay range for this position is$57,300.00-$89,000.00, and this position is eligible for annual goals based incentive bonuses.
