Primary Function of Organizational Unit |
The Department of Social Work prepares students to become generalist and advanced generalist social work practitioners adept at working with populations on micro, mezzo, and macro system levels. |
Primary Purpose of Position |
The primary purpose of this position is to provide high-quality instruction in social work courses at the undergraduate and/or graduate level. The adjunct faculty member will teach up to nine hours per semester (part-time) ensuring that course content aligns with the program's learning outcomes and Council on Social Work Education (
CSWE) accreditation standards. Adjunct faculty are also responsible for engaging students in meaningful dialogue, fostering critical thinking, and evaluating student performance |
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Comprehensive knowledge of generalist and/or advanced social work practice.
- Strong commitment to social work values
- Ability to deliver instruction in various formats, including in-person, online, and hybrid environments.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with student population
- Ability to apply adult learning principles and current best practices in social work education.
- Proficiency with learning management systems (e.g. Canvas) and instructional technologies.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines for grading, feedback, and reporting.

Minimum Education/Experience |
- Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a CSWE-accredited program.
- A minimum of two years of post-MSW professional social work practice experience.
