Position Summary
The Strategic Communications Specialist is a vital role responsible for developing and executing integrated communication strategies that enhance CEDC's messaging, brand, public engagement, and ultimately drive program success. This individual will be a skilled storyteller, crafting compelling narratives and managing both internal and external communications to ensure alignment with organizational goals. The Specialist will lead content creation, crisis communications, and digital strategy to effectively reach key audiences. A key aspect of this role involves analyzing market trends and stakeholder perceptions to refine messaging, strengthen CEDC's reputation, and drive meaningful engagement.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Strategic Communications Planning & Execution:
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies aligned with CEDC's overall strategic goals.
- Craft key messages and narratives that resonate with target audiences across various platforms.
- Manage internal communications to ensure consistent messaging and employee engagement.
- Oversee external communications, including media relations, public relations, and community outreach.
- Develop and maintain a robust crisis communication plan.
- Content Creation & Management:
- Produce high-quality, engaging content across multiple formats (e.g., press releases, blog posts, social media content, website copy, presentations, reports).
- Ensure brand consistency across all communication materials.
- Market Analysis & Audience Segmentation:
- Conduct market research to identify and segment target audiences based on demographics, behaviors, purchasing patterns, and psychographics.
- Utilize data analytics tools to understand audience needs and preferences.
- Develop tailored messaging and communication strategies for each segment.
- Analyze competitor strategies and market trends to inform communication approaches.
- Service Offering Communication & Promotion:
- Collaborate on the development and documentation of CEDC's service offerings, ensuring clear and concise descriptions of benefits, features, and value propositions.
- Develop and maintain a user-friendly service catalog that aligns with CEDC's brand identity and effectively communicates the value of its services.
- Customize the service catalog for different target audiences, highlighting relevant offerings based on specific needs and segments.
- Measurement & Reporting:
- Track and analyze the effectiveness of communication initiatives, using data to refine strategies and optimize performance.
- Regularly report on key metrics and provide insights to leadership.
Education, Certification & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in strategic communications, marketing, or a related field.
Active Secret security clearance
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Required:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to craft compelling narratives and tailor messages for different audiences.
- Experience with market research and data analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant communication software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the government/military sector.
Experience with CRM systems.
Experience with graphic design software.
Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands
Basic office work environment at government facility location
Scheduled hours between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday
May require participation in rotating schedule for off-shift and weekend work
On-call availability for maintenance and emergency situations
