The Role: This position is responsible for the development, technical configuration, and application administration of the NWN Customer Information System (CIS) and associated third-party tools. You will work closely with the IT management team, business analysts, and IT&S development teams to ensure that the CIS solution effectively supports business needs. Day to Day: Develop, test, build, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain the overall CIS solution. Collaborate with business analysts to gather requirements, perform gap analyses, and document functional and technical specifications for enhancements and integrations with other business applications. Ensure a clear understanding of requirements and provide accurate work estimates to improve the sequencing and prioritization of work. Conduct unit testing and participate in system and user acceptance testing to validate results, accuracy, reliability, and conformance to established standards. Participate in code reviews to maintain consistent application standards. Engage in the complete software development lifecycle using iterative methodologies. Monitor key metrics and system health, quickly identifying and resolving problems. Support the company's commitment to a culture of safe work practices. Come on your first day with: Required Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Additional experience required for level 2 position. Basic knowledge of applications and network design, application development, application programming interfaces (APIs), middleware, servers, and storage. Familiarity with Report Program Generator (RPG) development, including RPGIV, RPG ILE, RPG Free, and SQL ILE. Basic knowledge of DB2 and SQL databases. Familiarity with iSeries security and administration. Desired Experience or knowledge of the natural gas or other utility industries. Experience or knowledge of financial systems, especially revenue, billing, and accounts receivables. Familiarity with iSeries web service and/or stored procedure development. Understanding of XML GoAnywhere and/or MQ Series. Knowledge of SFTP, IFS, and iSeries Navigator. Experience with change management software such as Remain or Turnover. Familiarity with SQL and advanced SQL functions. Skills Excellent interpersonal skills in teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation. Analytical and technical skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Good planning and organizational skills. Basic knowledge of enterprise applications. Understanding of information principles and processes. Basic knowledge of financial models and budgeting. Understanding of network and security architecture. Familiarity with software development life cycle methodologies (such as waterfall, spiral, agile software development, rapid prototyping, incremental, synchronize and stabilize, and DevOps). Understanding of IT service management (ITSM) and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations Certification is preferred. Knowledge of IT standards and controls. Competencies Ability to apply multiple technical solutions to enable future-state business capabilities that drive targeted business outcomes. Problem-solving and analytical skills; capable of understanding system configurations and the interrelationships of an application architecture. Skilled at defining issues, analyzing and evaluating information, presenting recommendations, and identifying alternative solutions. Strong written communication skills, including the ability to effectively create and document technical plans. Excellent verbal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels and across departments. Highly self-motivated and directed, with experience working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Demonstrated skill at managing time effectively to meet deadlines and balance priorities. May require evening and weekend work hours to accommodate the resolution of system outages and scheduled maintenance or production changes. Payout, if earned, is based on company and individual performance for each plan year and may range from 0% - 200% of target. Targets are subject to change in subsequent plan years.
