Responsibilities
MTSI is seeking a Model Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to provide modeling and engineering support to MDA Modeling and Simulation (M&S). The MBSE modeler works with MDA engineers to capture system behavior and structure and to explore potential improvements to the system. The position participates in the development of a system-of-systems architecture model ensuring M&S requirements drive an integrated (System-level) M&S capability. The Model Based Systems Engineer may also provide support using Model Based System Engineering tools and techniques to define systems interfaces, requirements, and behaviors.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints
- Support analysis of MDA governance documents for periodic updates
- Review of system engineering documentation to ensure specifications meet system needs and are accurate
- Model systems and systems of systems using SysML, UAF, and other languages
- Represent stakeholder requirements in a model
- Connect SE models to other engineering data repositories, including requirements repositories and task repositories
- Perform traceability analyses
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in related STEM degree with 8 years of experience
- Active Secret Clearance
- 4 years of practical experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) tools and procedures
- Object Management Group (OMG) Certified Systems Modeling Language (OCSMP) Certification - SysML Model User
- Understanding of systems engineering lifecycle
- Understanding of system interface requirements and requirements management
- Ability to effectively participate and collaborate with functionally and geographically diverse teams of engineering professionals with differing perspectives, skills, and backgrounds
- Ability to effectively communicate complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders and non-MBSE trained people, both in written and spoken forms
- Ability to provide significant contribution in the areas of creative thinking, problem solving, analytical thinking, strategic thinking and out-of-the-box thinking
- Energetic, motivated, self-starting
Preferred Qualifications:
- Systems Engineering Certification (e.g. INCOSE ASEP/CSEP, OCSMP)
- Object Management Group (OMG) Certified Systems Modeling Language (OCSMP) Certification - SysML Model Builder Fundamental
- Experience as a contractor supporting government customer
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerBI
- Exposure to analysis, test, and systems engineering of M&S for one or more elements of the BMDS (i.e. Patriot, THAAD, GMD, Sensors, or C2)
- Experience performing requirements analysis and trade studies
- Experience extending SE modeling tools with plugins
- Scripting and programming to support tool plugin creation using tool APIs
