Job Title: Data Architect, Senior

Onsite Requirement: A couple of days onsite required and travel to different sites.

Job Summary: LCG is seeking an experienced Data Architect, Senior to support the modernization of the client Applicant and Administrator Applications. This project involves replacing outdated systems built with DB2 and .NET frameworks with a new, scalable, modern solution. The Data Architect will play a key role in designing and implementing a robust data architecture that enables seamless integration across legacy and new client systems.

Key Responsibilities



  • Architect and implement the full data lifecycle from ingestion to reporting, including staging, Operational Data Store (ODS), Data Mart, and Data Warehouse (DWH).
  • Design and oversee the development of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines to support the integration of data across a mix of legacy and distributed systems.
  • Lead the migration of data from legacy DB2 systems to modern SQL Server environments.
  • Collaborate with application developers, business analysts, and system architects to ensure accurate data modeling, mapping, and alignment with business rules.
  • Design and maintain enterprise data models using tools such as ER/Studio or ERwin.
  • Create scalable and secure data structures to support real-time and batch reporting needs, using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI.
  • Define data governance, quality, and security standards for all new data architectures in compliance with client standards.
  • Ensure seamless data synchronization across DOE divisions (e.g., Payroll, HR, etc) and external systems.
  • Develop and enforce best practices for database performance, indexing, data archiving, and ETL operations.
  • Provide mentorship and code review for ETL developers and data engineers.
  • Collaborate with the client's Division of Instructional and Information Technology (DIIT) to ensure architecture aligns with long-term IT modernization strategies.


Qualifications



  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in data architecture and integration in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Expertise in:
  • Deep knowledge of ETL architecture principles and tools.
  • Strong experience modernizing legacy systems and migrating databases (preferably from DB2 to SQL Server).
  • Experience integrating transactional systems with data warehouses and reporting platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to architect solutions that scale to meet performance and data integrity requirements.
  • Experience with public sector modernization projects, preferably in education or large government agencies.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data solutions (Azure SQL, Synapse, etc.) a plus.
  • Understanding of application modernization within Microsoft .NET environments.
  • Knowledge of client standards (e.g., security, non-functional requirements, third-party vendor integrations) is a strong plus.


Compensation and Benefits

The projected compensation range for this position is $140,500 to $177,400 per year, benchmarked in the New York area. The target salary is $158,200 for this role. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Salary at LCG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to role, location, the combination of education/training, knowledge, skills, competencies, certifications, and work experience.
