This is ahybrid position based out of Feeding America's Chicago office location. At Feeding America, we believe in offering a flexible work environment. Employees can be in the office an average of 2 days a week (when not travelling for work) and work from home on other days. Employees also have access to a 30-day "work anywhere" program during the course of each calendar year that can be combined with PTO and/or holidays.

The Opportunity
Reporting to the Vice President of Direct Marketing, this role is a key leader in the development, execution, and optimization of integrated direct response fundraising campaigns across traditional and digital channels. The Director will drive strategies to grow unrestricted revenue, deepen donor engagement, and expand the donor base-managing a robust $40M+ revenue portfolio. While primary oversight is rooted in Offline channels of direct mail, telemarketing, and DRTV, this position will champion a true omnichannel approach, aligning messaging and execution across platforms to ensure a seamless and impactful donor journey that drives fundraising results.
Compensation

Here at Feeding America national organization, equality is central to our mission and is an integral part of our compensation policies and structures. As such, we maintain transparent salary ranges and clearly defined practices for how our team, including new hire salary offers, moves through these ranges. You can expect us to offer the best salary up front based on these clearly defined pay practices with little room for negotiation. We make exceptions for highly experienced (multiple years of at-level experience) new hires in accordance with our pay practices. Once hired, employees have the opportunity to progress through salary ranges via regular merit increases and step promotions.

Salary Range: $125,000 - $130,000 Based on Experience.

Responsibilities:
Strategic & Operational Leadership
  • Own full-cycle planning and execution of direct response campaigns, including acquisition, renewal, reactivation, and mid-level donor engagement across direct mail, telemarketing, DRTV to drive $40M in fundraising revenue, in close alignment with Online team to support seamless offline-to-digital integration.
  • Lead annual campaign calendar planning across channels, ensuring message and channel alignment that reflects donor needs, organizational priorities, and timely opportunities.
  • Drive program as an agile, insight-driven planning model, leveraging data to respond dynamically to donor behavior and market conditions.
Donor Experience & Campaign Integration
  • Integrate Offline strengths (e.g., segmentation, modeling, test-and-learn expertise) into cross-channel planning-partnering closely with digital, analytics, and Online fundraising teams to align strategies, elevate the donor experience and drive offline-digital campaign integration.
  • Leads calendar planning and coordination across channels to ensure consistent campaign delivery.
  • Champion consistent messaging and donor journeying across all touchpoints, creating a unified and engaging experience from acquisition to long-term stewardship.
  • Collaborate with teams across Network Fundraising Services, Strategic Gifts, and Planned Giving to deliver a cohesive donor narrative and leverage organizational touchpoints.
Innovation & Performance Optimization
  • Maintain a culture of testing and learning, partnering with digital and analytics teams to align segmentation and test-learn strategies across channels to uncover insights that increase overall donor value and revenue performance.
  • Identify emerging trends in direct response and media innovation, applying them to uncover new opportunities for growth and portfolio diversification.
Budget & Vendor Management
  • Develop and oversee revenue and expense budgets, setting measurable targets and forecasts for $40M fundraising budget, and tracking performance across donor segments.
  • Manage agency and vendor relationships-including AOR, list brokers, production teams, and media buyers-to ensure efficient execution and alignment with financial and stewardship goals.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Lead, coach, and support a high-performing team with a focus on ownership, accountability, and continuous growth.
  • Partner with Philanthropy Operations to strengthen gift processing, data analytics, and donor services, enhancing program performance and operational excellence.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
  • 7+ years' experience developing omnichannel sales or fundraising strategy for large, national direct marketing program, including diverse audiences: acquisition, cultivation, stewardship programs, mid-level and reactivation campaigns.
  • 5+ years experience managing teams
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to analyze program effectiveness and distill insights to drive measurable results.
  • Experience with modeling, database segmentation and the role of analytics in performance optimization.
  • Proven ability to manage high-performing teams.
  • Innovative, growth mindset with excellent problem-solving capabilities and a comfort and passion in learning new skills.
  • Non-profit experience and experience marketing an intangible preferred.
