Position Summary: The College Savings Field Representative serves as a subject matter expert and communicates the features and benefits of Illinois' Bright Directions College Savings Program. This professional provides timely updates and key information to financial professionals and requires travel across the state of Illinois to increase awareness of Bright Directions. The Field Representative will support the growth of Illinois Bright Directions College Savings Program by serving as a resource to financial advisors in Illinois. They will also research and implement creative strategies to market the plans to financial professionals. The Field Representative will have the opportunity to gain knowledge of financial industry topics including college savings programs, investments, operations and taxes.

This professional will live in Illinois and travel across the state.

Essential Functions:



  • Make proactive marketing calls (in-person and phone) to financial advisors and other investment professionals to strengthen the existing Bright Directions relationships.
  • Visit non-producing financial advisors and firms to introduce Bright Directions College Savings Program and to encourage future utilization of the Plan.
  • Plan, schedule appointments, and implement effective weekly travel throughout the state.
  • Act as subject-matter expert on 529 programs, saying up to date with industry developments and trends.
  • Research and implement campaigns and messaging.
  • Attend and promote Bright Directions various local and regional conferences and events.
  • Provide 529 Field Marketing Coordinator with regular updates regarding activity and trends.
  • Assist with functions of the 529 department as needed.
  • Understand and adhere to all bank policies, laws and regulations applicable to their role. Complete compliance training: follow internal processes and controls as required.
  • Report all compliance issues, violations of law or regulations in accordance with the steps defined in bank policies.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • Perform other job-related duties or special projects as assigned.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Mutual fund, investment, finance, tax and/or financial planning experience preferred.
  • Project a strong professional image with ability to positively promote Bright Directions and service excellence philosophy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and in working with other financial software.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record.

Working Environment:

Travel required across the respective states

Weekly travel requires overnight hotel stays

Lifting and/or carrying up to 30 lbs. occasionally

Moderate exposure to outdoor elements or hazards.

This role is eligible for hybrid work from home opportunity under the work from home guidelines upon completion of onboarding.
