General Summary of Position Oversees and coordinates all administrative matters relating to financial and personnel operations for an assigned department. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Develops and implements policies and procedures relating to the administrative functions of the department.Handles all personnel-related activities for the department, including the hiring and termination of administrative/clerical staff, employee evaluations, employee physicals, tuition assistance, property receipts, and employee requisitions.Effectively relates to peers, supervisor and customers on a daily basis.Serves as departmental liaison with internal departments and with external vendors.Manages the collection and disbursement of statistical information related to the department for the purpose of evaluation, control, and planning.Approves, verifies and oversees income and expenditures of department including vouchers, purchase orders, payroll and salaries and completion of WHC financial forms necessary for operation.Analyzes, reconciles, verifies and monitors incoming reports, i.e., Income and Expenditures, Accounting Distribution, Supply Usage, etc. Develops and maintains department reports for tracking.Initiates billing policies and procedures for the department.Assists in the preparation and monitoring of budgets (capital, expense, staffing, and revenue) for designated cost centers.May assist in the coordination, processing, and maintenance of applications, verification of credentials, department orientation and/or other administrative activities for a designated residency-training program.Participates in department planning and development including preparation and justification for staff and equipment.Maintains current knowledge of technical and business developments and communicates relevant information to the work group.
Minimum Qualifications Education
- Associate's degree required
- Relevant MedStar Washington Hospital experience (minimum of three years) may be substituted for degree
Experience
- 3-4 years of progressively more responsible job related experience required
Licenses and Certifications
- Notary License (NOTARY PUB) in the District of Columbia for the Administrative Coordinator in the department of Patient and Guest Services within 1 Year required
