Who we are and what we do:

The Tennessee Department of Treasury impacts the lives of Tennesseans every day. Treasury is responsible for many of the financial operations of state government, including managing more than $100 billion in assets through its various investment programs. We administer and invest the State's Retirement Program, RetireReadyTN, which combines the state pension plan, Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System, and the State's Defined Contribution plans. Treasury serves all Tennesseans by helping to educate and empower them to make smart financial choices, and by providing public-serving programs in the areas of college savings, financial literacy, unclaimed property, risk management, criminal injuries compensation, and more.

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for delivering a high level of telephonic and written customer service to employers participating in Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System (TCRS) plans. This role serves as a key liaison between TCRS and employer contacts, ensuring accurate and timely support throughout the lifecycle of their participation in the retirement system. At the present time, this position is primarily remote, with occasional required in-person meetings. It is anticipated that the department will regularly utilize its downtown Nashville office on a hybrid schedule in the future. Job location is subject to change at the discretion of the Department. The successful candidate should live in Tennessee and provide sufficient internet connection. This position is not eligible for VISA sponsorship (of foreign nationals).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Key Responsibilities: Provides prompt, professional customer service to employers via phone and email addressing questions related to TCRS plans and provisions.
  • Guides new employers through the onboarding process, including initial system setup and back-office procedures to ensure successful integration into TCRS.
  • Provides clear instruction and support on employer responsibilities, including contribution reporting, payment processing, and account maintenance.
  • Educates prospective employers on available plan options, eligibility requirements, and compliance with applicable TCRS policies and procedures.
  • Monitors monthly contribution submissions, notifying internal team members of employers who have not reported by the established deadline.
  • Responds to employer inquiries related to reporting issues and concerns in a timely, accurate, and courteous manner.
  • Performs data corrections related to post-submission reporting by following established procedures for amendments and adjustments, either independently or as part of a team.
  • Supports department initiatives by participating in special projects and assignments, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from a four-year college or university One-year of successful experience in a customer-service focused administrative role Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel Strong analytical abilities Strong project management and communication skills
