Position Summary:

As the Business Development Director at M3 Group, you will find yourself traversing multiple industries and areas to support overall growth for the organization. This position allows the high energy individual to support multiple divisions with creative strategy while developing critical market growth plans for M3 Group engaging with new business. The Business Development Director is responsible for driving the growth and expansion of the agency by developing strategic business relationships, identifying new business opportunities, and overseeing efforts to increase revenue. This role requires a proven track record in marketing, communications, advertising, and public relations, and strong leadership skills to inspire and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Work Arrangement: This position is able to work hybrid arrangement. Expectation to work onsite on Tuesdays and one other day each week at the Lansing or Troy office.

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm ET. While these are the standard business hours, the role offers flexibility with events that may take place outside of these hours. Additionally, travel is required as part of the role.

An offer of employment with MSU Federal Credit Union and affiliates is contingent upon the agreed work arrangement (onsite/hybrid/remote) and work location. MSU Federal Credit Union may or may not be able to accommodate temporary or permanent changes to work arrangements or allow employment outside the city and/or state of residency in which the new hire resides at the time of offered employment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Lead business development efforts by identifying and pursuing new markets and client opportunities to drive agency growth and revenue goals.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with potential clients.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Manage, mentor, and motivate a team of sales professionals to ensure performance targets and revenue goals are achieved.
  • Track market trends and competitor activity to inform proactive business strategies.
  • Lead the preparation of proposals, presentations, and pitches for prospective clients while using M3 templates.
  • Monitor and report on sales performance, pipeline growth, and key business metrics, including time tracking, to ensure a clear understanding of the sales cycle and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Represent the agency professionally at industry events, networking functions, and conferences to expand the network and generate leads.
  • Negotiate contracts and close deals with clients.
  • Stay informed about the agency's services and offerings, ensuring alignment with market demands.
  • Provide insights and feedback to improve service offerings and address market needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.


    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required



    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing and/or other equivalent field.
    • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in sales, marketing, or related fields, with a focus on closing deals and generating business growth.
    • Proven experience in business development, with a strong track record of successfully closing sales and driving revenue growth.
    • Demonstrated history of securing new business opportunities, managing client relationships, and consistently achieving or exceeding sales targets.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, delivering messages clearly and concisely.
    • Proficiency in various software programs, including PowerPoint, SharpSpring, Better Proposals, and Workamajig.
    • Confidence in engaging with high-profile clients and industry professionals.
    • Commitment to ongoing professional development.
    • Comprehensive understanding of the agency's service offerings, ensuring alignment when discussing and building proposals to meet client needs.
    • Professional business acumen.
    • Ability to present information accurately and concisely, with a sharp attention to detail.
    • Capable of completing projects within tight timelines while maintaining attention to detail and ensuring follow-through.
    • Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and be resourceful.
    • Adaptability in a dynamic and uncertain environment.
    • An ability to build trust through strong communication and consistently delivering on commitments.


          Physical Demands & Work Environment:



          • May be required to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
          • Ability to operate standard office technology, equipment and tools, which may include many hours of computer and phone usage.
          • Occasionally needs to move about inside of office area
          • This position is able to work in hybrid or onsite working arrangements.
