Supplier Quality Engineer

Buffalo, NY * Be part of an exciting journey as we build our new facility in the Western New York Science & Technology Advanced Manufacturing Park in Alabama, NY! This role offers a unique hybrid opportunity, blending remote work flexibility with on-site presence during the facility's construction phase.

Salary Range: $70,000 - 97,000

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, experience, and location.

The Supplier Quality Engineer ensures the effective communication and flow-down of Edwards' quality requirements to all suppliers, maintaining control over the Approved Supplier List (ASL), and taking full contractual and commercial management responsibility. The primary mission is to analyze root causes of quality issues, implement corrective actions, prevent recurrence, and drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers. This role plays a critical part in enhancing supplier quality, fostering supplier development, and supporting advanced product quality planning to ensure the highest standards of materials and products are consistently delivered.

Essential Functions:

• Maintain the satisfactory quality of outsourced parts and components
• Utilize industry best practices to develop and maintain supplier quality records and traceability
• Proactive supplier engagement to improve supplier quality as required
• Creation and end-to-end management of SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request) process
• Develop and implement continuous improvement processes to improve supplier quality and reduce DPPM (defective parts per million)
• Collaborate with strategic sourcing and operational purchasing teams to provide quality data to support Supplier Scorecard Reviews
• Closely align with strategic sourcing to qualify new materials, processes and/or suppliers
• Actively lead supplier quality audits as part of a cross-functional team

Education level

* Minimum bachelor' degree in engineering or business management

Relevant Previous experience

* 4 Year Degree in Engineering or related field , 5+ years supplier quality experience

* Technical and Analytical skills necessary to understand manufacturing processes, support quality initiatives, execute root cause analysis, coach suppliers in performance

* Improvement, understand product technical specifications, conduct supplier evaluation.

* Supplier management experience highly desired

Knowledge/Skills

* APQP and PPAP (Advanced Part Quality Planning)

* Quality Management of purchasing parts

* Non-Conformity Material control

* New Supplier Selection and Approval Procedure, Supplier Risk Analysis, SESPA (Audits)

* Supplier Assessment

* Quality Management System (ISO9001) and Process/Procedure/Instruction

* Supplier Change Management

* Statistical Process/Quality Control

* Problem Solving Process

* Quality control tools such as 8D, QRQC, SPC, etc.

* PPAP system (Production Part Approval Process system)

* Supplier quality guidance and continuous improvement

* Supplier assessment and audit

Other requirements

* Fluent in both spoken and written English

* Communication internally and externally with stakeholders
