Role: Mainframe Developer

Experience: 6 to 12 years of solid experience.

Job Location: Candidates need to be willing to work in a hybrid model from the Client's office in Morris Plains, New Jersey, Plano Texas or St. Louis, Missouri.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mainframe Developer with 6 to 12 years of experience. This hybrid role requires a dedicated professional to oversee and manage our services effectively ensuring seamless operations and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Design and Develop (Mainframe: COBOL, DB2, JCL, VSAM, CICS) high quality deliverables adhering to defined standards and design principles
  • Create unit tests and ensure code coverage is met as per the agreed standards.
  • Assumes responsibility for the quality and timeliness of the team's deliverables.
  • Provide Mainframe and database solutions by studying existing technology architecture; analyzing browser compatibility techniques; evaluating solution alternatives; developing prototypes; and writing detailed technical requirements.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement in all areas of technology and instills the principles of this culture in a team.
  • Ensures that teams have appropriate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively by establishing realistic estimates for timelines while ensuring that projects remain on target to meet deadlines.
  • Provides detailed and timely status updates to management.
  • Helps establish and enhance development policies, procedures, and standards and enforces their implementation upon their team of developers.
  • Maintains technical knowledge and understanding of the latest development methodologies and best practices by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Ensures quality and consistency throughout the architecture and implementation of the code base.
  • Acts as a highly competent advisor to their manager, leads and team.

Qualifications

  • Work experience required: 6 - 12 yrs
  • Skill set: Mainframe, COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM

Must have skill:

  • Strong knowledge in COBOL, CICS
  • Strong knowledge in DB2, JCL, VSAM
  • Expertise in Mainframe Batch and online programming

Good to have:

  • Knowledge in Healthcare (PBM)

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position depends on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
