Carpenter Foreman
Overview: Directly supervise and coordinate activities of construction Project. Perform supervisory and management functions related to job cost accounting. May also engage in the same construction trades work as the workers being supervised without additional compensation or change in status. Foreman will be required at times to act as superintendent or project management due to absences, timely requirements, or need without additional compensation. Foreman will be responsible for foresight in determining needs of project and push this information forward.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Coordinates, directs and leads workers engaged in construction activities
- Supervises crews to obtain top quality workmanship, efficiency, employee satisfaction, morale, communication, commitment, teamwork and pride
- Recognizes and communicates to Superintendent or Project Manager any priority projects or problems, such as employee or job costing issues and complaints from the public
- Ensures that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed, bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent, Safety Director or HR Manager
- Adheres to the company's Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Policy when taking part in any employment action or decision, such as hiring, job assignment, layoff or termination
- Acts as liaison with job estimator
- Provides calculations on hours involved, tons of materials needed, along with truck, plant and human resources required
- Performs other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervisory responsibilities associated with this position may include supervision of professional, technical, clerical, and/or labor staff in support of the project, as well as supervision of subcontractors.
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- A minimum of 5 to 10 years of related skill, knowledge or experience is required
- Experience and training must include a minimum of 10 years in methods, techniques, equipment and hands-on experience in a supervisory position. Must include related on-the-job training and experience in construction practices
- Must have experience in dealing with subcontracts and subcontractors
- Must have experience in coordinating multiple trades in projects valued at $250,000 or higher
- Experience in remote Alaska locations preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Experience and training must include a minimum of 10 years in methods, techniques, equipment and hands-on experience in a supervisory position.
- Must include related on-the-job training and experience in construction practices.
- Must have experience in dealing with subcontracts and subcontractors.
- Must have experience in coordinating multiple trades in projects valued at $250,000 or higher
- Experience in remote Alaska locations preferred.
- Knowledge of administration and management.
- Must be able to plan, allocate resources, manage production and coordinate people and equipment.
- Strong coordination, time management, active listening, oral and written expression and comprehension, critical thinking and reasoning skills.
- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong-to recognize problems when they occur and to work toward the solution of those problems.
- Ability to exercise good judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with the public and fellow employees.
- Strong mathematical abilities and the ability to remember words, numbers and other information.
- Must be able to read, understand and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys and job specifications.
- Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a Team.
- Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under a minimum of supervision.
- Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment, and have a strong attention for detail.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid AK Driver's License with clean driving record.
- Must be able to obtain an AK CDL with Hazmat endorsement within 30 days.

Work Environment:
Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat, near moving mechanical parts and includes occasional exposure to wet and/or humid conditions and to vibration. Accommodations at remote sights are often stark and limited as to hygiene, eating, and sleeping facilities. Pay $34-35 per hour with Trade benefits.
