Duties

* Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.

* Ensures that "Constructing with Integrity" is delivered by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.

* The Energy Marshall requires many different roles with specific duties to manage the commissioning process during construction from pre-energization through project completion and turn over.

* Managing electrical room access permits and electrical room attendance.

* Ensure compliance with safe work practices during energization and isolation activities.

* Responsible for verifying the commission plan and reviewing quality reports.

* Complete any pre-energization inspections.

* Responsible for the LOTO program on site.

* Review and audit energy isolation procedures to ensure safety and efficiency.

* Act as the subject matter expert (SME) for energy isolation practices and provide guidance to teams.

* Attends daily and weekly High Risk Activity (HRA) / Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) Meetings and provides procedure preparation support associated with Energy Isolation

* Partner with project teams to identify and implement continuous improvement strategies.

* Communicate complex technical solutions and energy-related concepts to both engineers and non-engineers.

* Audit site practices against established standards as part of the safety assurance role.

* Interpret line drawings and system redundancies to ensure Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) systems are designed and implemented effectively and in compliance with standards.

* Provide expert guidance on energy isolation in environments with multiple energy sources, with a particular focus on electrical systems.

* Serves as an independent authority for stopping all unsafe work practices regarding Energy Isolation.

* Participating in Weekly Safety Meetings

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.

* Minimum of 4 years of experience in energy isolation, safety, or a related field.

* NFPA 70E Certification.

* 7+ years commercial construction experience preferred

* Experience with DC construction and commissioning standards and practices.

* Ability to understand and ensure the safe installation of electrical equipment across various voltages, including AC and DC systems.

* Ability to work collaboratively with teams to drive process improvements.

* Strong communication skills, capable of explaining complex technical concepts to a diverse audience.

* Proficiency in auditing site practices against written standards.

* Familiarity with multiple energy sources, particularly in data centers, with an emphasis on electrical systems.
