Negotiates favorable terms, volume discounts and long-term contracts with suppliers and prepares and processes requisitions and purchase orders for the procurement of goods, services and supplies for customer-related business processes or for internal use as a generalist or in a combination of Purchasing Disciplines.



Major Position Responsibilities

This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite, TX.

This position is required to be on-site.

SUMMARY: Develops and implements methods and procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection to ensure that the products are free of flaws and function as designed. Designs and installs sophisticated testing equipment and performs product testing and analysis to maintain quality levels and minimize defects and failure rates. Analyzes reports and defective products to determine trends and recommend corrective actions. Collaborates with supplier representatives on quality problems, ensures that effective corrective actions are implemented and contributes to supplier quality improvement programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Establishes quality standards for products and processes and suggest modifications meant

    to prevent defects in components or final products.

  • Works closely with cross-functional teams, including product design, product management,

    and production, to identify and mitigate quality risks.

  • Audits production processes, raw materials, or suppliers/vendors to ensure that established

    quality standards are met.

  • Conducts root cause analysis for defects, non-conformities, or other quality failures.
  • May be responsible for ensuring compliance with formal external quality standards, such as

    ISO 9001.

Basic Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Associates Degree and/or Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education and Experience
  • 2 - 4 years prior experience in a similar position
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree with discipline/major in Quality or Engineering degree preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and detail oriented.
  • Ability to identify and seek needed information/research
  • Analytical thinking skills and decision-making skills.
  • Proficient with use of Microsoft Office

Preferred

  • Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate

    and/or operate machinery.

Travel Requirements

  • Less than 25% travel likely.
