Responsibilities

The Regulatory Affairs Waste SME is responsible for overseeing compliance with the RCRA regulations across TXO. The Waste SME must maintain a comprehensive understanding of the State and Federal RCRA regulations and ensure the site's RCRA permit is thorough and accurate.

Waste SME Responsibilities Include:

* Oversee compliance with the site's RCRA permit by conducting inspections and providing training.

* Ensure proper Waste Characterization for all wastes generated and managed on site.

* Maintain DOT training as it relates to hazardous waste manifesting and oversee waste manifest procedures.

* Perform third party disposal site business assessments to evaluate risk.

* Evaluate proposed regulatory changes and prepare site for changes as they occur.

* Evaluate new construction projects and changes to RCRA facilities for permitting implications.

* Compilation and submittal of permit renewals and modifications.

* Coordinate environmental activities including waste management, environmental reporting, audits, assessments, investigations, inspections by outside agencies, and performance tests.

* Maintain and manage the effectiveness of environmental procedures and policies. Ensure proper training.

* Serve as a resource for practices, programs, and analysis/resolution of issues in environmental compliance, data collection, and reporting which may include complex analysis or solutions.

* Maintain effective relationships and represent the site to community officials, regulatory agencies and industrial committees.

* Leads environmental team(s) and provides input into the development and implementation of key environmental processes to meet broader Global HSES/Site goals with site/region impact.

* Develop and submit routine reports to local and corporate management regarding activities and statistics related to environmental metrics.

* Assist with budgets/expenditures related to environmental management.

* Collaborate with other environmental resources throughout the company to benchmark and identify best practices.

Qualifications

* Bachelor of Science degree in geology, civil, chemical or environmental engineering or equivalent technical degree

* Five years exempt level experience in environmental assignment (manufacturing setting is preferred)

* Demonstrated knowledge in environmental regulations

* Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting

* Proven ability to timely implement and execute established plans and procedures

* Basic computer aptitude (database use, spreadsheets, word processing, presentation preparation)

* Ability to think critically and "outside the box" to identify creative solutions

* Strong communication and negotiation skills to interact and influence all levels within the company

* Ability to simplify complex material or situations

* Flexible to adapt to changing priorities quickly and effectively

* Good organization skills and ability to find practical solutions to environmental issues

* Good negotiating skills

* Strong leadership skills
