Job Summary

Assists in the education of the staff within the community and hospital based ambulatory clinics. This position requires traveling to all Academic Clinics or UC Davis Health Community Clinic locations to work various shifts for various lengths of time. Travel is required to various clinic sites in the greater Sacramento area, Placer County and Yolo County.

The position welcomes and provides new employee orientation to new hires in conjunction with the CPPN. Collaborates with the CPPN to arranged required trainings for new hires. Provides ongoing education and training to employees in areas identified by the department as needed such as medication administration, IV skills, mock codes, PPE use, PAPR training, etc. Assists is developing standardization of training and practice within all ambulatory areas. Works closely with the Quality nurse in educating and training staff on compliance issues.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) BLS CPR or UCDH-issued CPR Certification.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or entry-level MSN if Bachelor's degree in another field of study.
  • Master's degree in Nursing Education or related field, or equivalent experience/training.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of recent RN experience.
  • Recent experience teaching in a Healthcare environment.
  • Progressive experience in professional staff development.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of nursing practice standards and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to plan and implement adult learning activities using a variety of modalities.
  • Proven ability to organize, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Leadership: demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with staff at all levelsStrong critical thinking and problem-solving skills with ability to quickly identify problems and implement effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated strong skills in project management.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and communication skills to implement education programs.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in educational technology use.
  • Adapts to change in a positive, professional and productive manner.
  • Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and professional development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Nursing Professional Development Certification
  • Master's degree in nursing or related field
  • Ambulatory nursing experience.
  • OR, Procedural, or conscious sedation nursing experience.
  • Progressive leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards for primary programs, including BRN, ANCC, AHA,PTAP

Department Overview

The Ambulatory Care Division provides a full complement of facilities and services including primary and specialty care hospital-based teaching clinics, community clinics, and research clinics. The full complement of facilities and services includes 40 hospital-based clinics and 25 medical practices serving Sacramento, Yolo, and Placer counties. The division oversees complex care delivery in clinics, infusion centers, gastroenterology procedure labs, imaging centers, and neuroscience and sleep labs. Ambulatory operations also offers a vast array of virtual care through office based primary care and specialty telehealth video visits, eConsults. and extended hours telehealth express care. The Division is committed to maintaining a fully integrated Academic Health Center contributing to excellence in patient care, and enhancement of educational and research initiatives.

Work Environment
