ESSENTIAL DUTIES/TASKS:




  • Set up, calibrate, and maintain all equipment related to area of specialty (Metallurgy Lab, Welding, Thermal spray, Air Flow for example).
  • Create, follow instructions and checklists to operate equipment and related materials for use in tests and/or production.
  • Prepare test specimens for evaluation or analysis.
  • Take measurements and perform analytical process, product and test sample evaluations according to standard and non-standard methods.
  • Ensure all testing is accomplished according to all customer and regulatory requirements, where applicable.
  • Record and report test results after performing calculations, analyzing data, and making graphical representations as appropriate.
  • Approve processes, equipment and material within established criteria and specifications.



QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Technical Associates Degree or High school diploma/GED and equivalent work experience.
  • 2 to 4 years' experience in Aerospace or Industrial gas turbine engine engineering (laboratory, manufacture, or repair)
  • Experience with polishing, etching and evaluating Ni, Co and steel microstructures.
  • Previous experience with Cutting, Mounting, Polishing and Etching superalloys.
  • Familiar with Struers lab equipment cutting/mounting/vacuum impregnation/polishing/Hardness. (Secotom/Discotom/Exotom/Citopress/CitoVac/Tegramin/DuraScan/DuraJet)
  • Experience SEM microscopy (Tescan Mira and Vega).
  • Familiar with Ziess or Nikon Optical Microscopes (or any other type of light microscopy)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
