ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP is looking for a General Maintenance Technician to join our Operations Services team at our Coronado Naval Base Energy Center. The position is onsite. The General Maintenance Technician assists with operations, maintenance, and repair of systems and buildings at company and customer sites ensuring reliable, efficient, and cost-effective long-term operation. Their primary focus and expertise is with facility upkeep and assisting technicians. The essential functions of the position include:
- Maintain one or more systems that provide an establishment with such services as heat, air-conditioning (cool, humidify, dehumidify, filter, and circulate air), refrigeration, steam or high temperature water or electricity
- Duties involve:
- Observing and interpreting readings on gauges, meters and charts which register various aspects of the system's operation
- Adjusting controls to insure safe and efficient operation of the system and to meet demands for the service provided
- Recording in logs various aspects of the system's operation
- Keeping the engines, machinery and equipment of the system in good working order
- Treating water systems (boiler, chilled water and condensing water) with chemicals and analyze for such things as acidity, causticity, and alkalinity
- Drawing fluid samples (oils, lubricants and fuel) from equipment and perform tests or deliver for testing by others
- Performing diagnostic tests and measurements on equipment
- Direct and coordinate activities of other workers (not Systems Technician) in performing tasks directly related to operating and maintaining the system or systems
- Ability to diagnose and repair equipment in a timely manner
- Ability to work after hours for service/emergency calls to maintain working equipment
- Communicate with supervisors/management as to job progress and issues of assigned work
- Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skills and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work
- Maintain high pressure steam lines including but not limited to traps, strainers, expansion joints, insulation, and keep clear of vegetation
- Maintain air compressors maintenance plan
Your background includes:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three (3) years installation/troubleshooting experience mechanical and electrical system
- Basic computer skills required including data input, work order coordination and daily logs
- Documented completion or able to complete OSHA 30, NFPA 70, and arc flash training within 3 months of employment
A bonus to have:
- Associate's degree (AA or AS) or Technical degree with related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Five (5) years' experience troubleshooting and maintaining
- Steam heating systems

- DDC and energy management systems
- Prior military experience
