Job Description

We are seeking a talented Hospitality CAD Drafter (In-House Design) to join our growing in-house design team! Be part of the reimagination of our brand as we plan to renovate 1/3 of our portfolio in the next 3 years.

The Hospitality CAD Drafter provides drafting / drawing support throughout all design phases for designated hotel renovations. Internal interior design department handles renovations of all hotel areas as scheduled in the yearly capital plan including guestrooms, corridors, restaurants, meeting spaces, public spaces, retail, spas, outdoor areas, pools, etc.

Location: Omni Hotels & Resorts Corporate Office - Dallas, TX (NOT hybrid / remote)



Responsibilities

    Collaborates with Senior Interior Designer and/or Senior Director of Interior Design and project team to develop concepts and ideas creating functional space plans, elevations, details (including millwork), and 3D models for continuing design development for both renovations and creating new spaces for Omni Hotels and Resorts.
  • Produces content for all project construction documentation under supervision of Senior Interior Designer and/or Senior Director of Interior Design or Director of Interior Design Project Coordination. This will include drawing furniture layouts for all guestroom types.
  • Draws and coordinates design details and drawings with external consultants such as architect, lighting designer, landscape architects, F&B equipment designer, AV consultants, millwork fabricators, accessibility consultant, etc. (as necessary, based on scale and complexity of a project) under supervision of Senior Interior Designer and/or Senior Director of Interior Design and/or Director of Interior Design Project Coordination as part of an individual effort (depending on scale of project).
  • Generates detailed construction drawings based on project specifications.
  • Collaborates with Interior Designers and Architects to ensure design intent is accurately reflected in drawings.
  • Implements design changes and modifications as required.
  • Assists in resolving design issues during construction phases.
  • Reviews drawings for accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
  • Ensures all drawings are organized and stored appropriately for future reference.
  • Communicates effectively with team members to ensure smooth project workflow.
  • Conducts quality check on drawings to eliminate errors and inconsistencies.
  • Stays updated on CAD software advancements and industry best practices.
  • Assists in developing drafting standards and templates for the team.
  • Provides support during design reviews.
  • Works with designers as well as independently to produce drawings at 3 phases: Schematic, DD, Construction Documents.
  • Coordinates with the project team during all phases of the project to clearly convey the design intent.
  • Develops and implement design of all interior architectural details for the project based on the team's design intent.
  • Assists in the review of submittals and RFIs for design intent and coordination with the design team.
  • Coordinates with the project managers if questions arise throughout the project.
  • Conducts preliminary field surveys for project interior design scope verification with Senior project team.
  • Conducts on-site project punch as part of a team or individual effort (depending on scale of project).
  • Create individual milestones and adhere to project schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Work with designers as well as independently to produce drawings at 3 phases: Schematic, DD, Construction Documents
  • Code Compliance:
    • Understands and implements code reviews to ensure design compliance.
  • Contract Documentation:
    • Produces documents for building project filing and construction using CAD.
  • Adheres to Omni CAD Standards
  • Works on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Participates in company events, takes initiative, and contributes to the overall culture and success of Omni Hotels & Resorts


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited 4- or 5-year Architecture program or related field of study, or a Master's degree from an accredited Architecture program.
  • Minimum of 3-5 plus years of experience in the field of Interior Architecture.
  • Hospitality, Food & Beverage, or Luxury Residential experience a plus.
  • Space planning and understanding of design process.
  • Strong balance of technical knowledge and architectural/interior design skills, in all phases of architectural and interiors projects.
  • Familiarity with building codes and regulations, including ADA, ANSI, Fair Housing, and local amendments of IBC.
  • Collaborative and team oriented.
  • Proactive, with strong leadership skills.
  • Understands the components of construction drawings and specifications
  • Proven ability to handle shifting priorities, timelines and demands in a fast-paced, deadline driven working environment.
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and keen eye for aesthetics.
  • Travel approximately 5% of time.
  • Proficiency in the following programs:
    • AutoCAD
    • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, In-design
    • 3D software such as SketchUp and/or Rhino
    • Adobe Acrobat and BluebeamMicrosoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
