Position Summary:

The Manager, IT Infrastructure position designs, analyzes and implements computer systems and network infrastructure including voice and telecommunication solutions for the business enterprise. Develops and maintains global, regional and local processes and procedures for supporting systems of high complexity. Assures integrity of the company's systems including servers, networks, voice systems, backup and recovery systems, data centers, databases, transaction processing and reporting systems, security, resource monitoring, reporting, disaster recovery and the design, development and maintenance of specialized systems and IT processes.

Responsibilities: Essential Duties

  • Lead local and global technology evaluations related to operating systems, hardware, software, services, development tools and methodologies. Identify alternative or new technologies and implement them as global Information Technology standards.
  • Provide tactical and strategic input on IT infrastructure including systems and network infrastructure and related computer system projects and operations.
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules and resources. Serve as project leader on assigned projects. Assign tasks to project team; explain work methods, and check work for completeness, timeliness and accuracy.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Define, design, review, plan, implement and maintain highly complex network systems and services. Troubleshoot such environments and recommend/implement necessary improvements. Provide system monitoring, performance management and lifecycle management for systems.
  • Provide project management services and ensure systems and services are IT/QM/QA compliant. Create and Maintain validation documentation, procedures and training as required to support GxP requirements.
  • Define and revise SOPs and system validation plans as required to meet corporate business needs and support the company's validation requirements
  • Design, implement and maintain backup and recovery systems, provide data center support and disaster recovery services.
  • Coordinate activities with system and network service providers and carriers for installation, maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Prepare process workflow charts and diagrams to specify in detail, operations to be performed by computer systems.
  • Train colleagues and direct reports on new technologies and systems as required.
  • Prepare monthly activity status reports to inform management of work orders completed, work orders pending, and identify any issues which need to be evaluated to management for resolution or assistance.
  • Prepare project status reports to inform management to project progression. Identify any issues, which need to be escalated for resolution or assistance.
  • Assist in developing capital and operating budget plans and cost/benefits analysis.
  • Provide escalated user support for all network infrastructure and communication services
  • Monitors system alerts and alarms generated from operational monitoring systems.

Expertise: Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, Virtualization technologies, Cisco Networking, Relational Database, Oracle, SQL, Office365, Cloud solutions, MS Project, Checkpoint Security Software and other security technologies, Remote access technologies, Networking technologies including communications hardware and TCP/IP services, mobility technologies and backup and recovery systems.
  • Software Selection Implementation and Testing Methodology; business process and workflow process including interviewing, design, and documentation; general business knowledge of manufacturing organization to include Finance, Shop Floor Control, Sales Order Processing, Process Monitoring
  • Knowledge of departmental policies, standards and procedures, quality methods; client/server application development, architecture, database connectivity; general business practices and operations
  • Knowledge of project management standards, methods and techniques; customer service practices.
  • Use of standard operating systems, network environments and application software; prioritize, organize and complete tasks in accordance with established standards and deadlines.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff, management, other departmental representatives, contractors, consultants, vendors and external customers.
  • Knowledge of supervisory principles and methods; assign tasks, explain work methods, demonstrate equipment usage, and check work for completeness, timeliness and accuracy.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of proprietary, financial and personnel data.
  • Work with vendors in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.

Expertise: Qualifications -Education/Experience/Training/Etc

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline from four-year college or university.
  • Minimum 10 years related application/infrastructure creation experience including steps from requirements definition through implementation using the Company's standard toolsets.
  • Available on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week; ability to travel overnight to off-site locations to support systems, attend meetings and conferences.

Desired:

  • Microsoft, VMware, Cisco and other job related certifications are desirable.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry preferably medical device or pharmaceutical industry.
