Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Stage Manager (part time) for the Mason Gross School of the Arts Music Department. Reporting to the Production Stage Manager, this person must have prior experience working in a stage or production leadership role in places like concert halls, theatres, or corporate venues.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Assists with regular music department events and performances in the department's premier concert hall, Nicholas Music Center.
- Handles day-of activities for events and performances, is the contact point between lead event hosts/event performers and the venue and is the primary contact in the case of emergencies before, during, and after events/performances.
- Supervises hired production staff such as light runners, sound runners, recording/live streaming technicians, and stage crew.
- Arrives first and is the last to leave, and is responsible for locking up after the performance or event.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree in stage management, theater technology, or related field.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of generally accepted stage production management principles and practices.
- Ability to work with stage lighting systems, audio and visual systems and technology.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Equipment Utilized |
ETC Expression software or equivalent. Lightwright or equivalent stage lighting design software. Digital audio mix, live sound reinforcement, audiovisual recording, and streaming technologies.

Physical Demands and Work Environment |
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move large, heavy equipment.
- Must be able to climb ladders and stairs to catwalks.
