Summary
Responsible for administering therapeutic radiation in accordance with the physician's prescription to age specific groups identified in the direct care responsibilities. Serves as a mentor by coaching, evaluating, counseling and educating team members. Provides direct daily supervision to the radiation therapist. Serves as the team leader in the absence of the site leader. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions -Coordinates the activities of the Senior and Staff Radiation Therapists to ensure quality treatment delivery and maximum utilization of both equipment and personnel. -Leads the therapist team in developing new techniques or resolving clinical problems. -Manages the triage of emergent cases, coordinates all on call activities with the on call therapist and negotiates scheduling of patients with other care team members. -Possesses an advanced knowledge base and ability to accurately perform and teach all new start QA measures, weekly chart checks, scheduling, treatment, image review, and billing procedures involving the EMR system. -Manages team during equipment failures and notifies patients as well as all functional areas of the department. -Joins and actively participates in department committees, retraining and continuing education activities. Education Bachelor's Degree Radiation Therapy required or Associate's Degree Radiation Therapy required or Bachelor's Degree Radiation Therapy preferred Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Radiation Therapist [State License] - Generic - HR Only required Registered Technologist [ARRT-R] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] - Data Conversion - Various Issuers preferred Radiation Therapy [ARRT-T] - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) preferred Experience continuous clinical experience 3-5 years required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Demonstrate efficient knowledge of all equipment operation, tools and procedures specific to assigned area, and effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise. - Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal professional relationships with physicians, management, peers, patients, and their families. - Demonstrate strong customer service skills, including the ability to use appropriate judgment, independent thinking and creativity when resolving issues and conflict. - Must have to ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information. - Must be proficient in the use of the Radiation Oncology Information Systems and software and Hospital Information Systems that integrate with the Department of Radiation Oncology, including, but not limited to: ARIA, EPIC, ExacTrac, Eclipse.
