The Re-engagement Associate is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to enhance the Re-engagement Center's structure, policies, and practices to support student success. This role provides guidance to school staff on students' social and emotional needs, connects families with available services, and collaborates with school-based teams and community partners to identify appropriate interventions, particularly in mental health. Key responsibilities include delivering counseling and support services, conducting student school-based check-ins using a case management model, responding to crises, maintaining thorough documentation, analyzing caseload data, and ensuring confidentiality in record-keeping. This position also participates in staff meetings, monitors student progress, and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local policies related to equal employment, nondiscrimination, and professional standards.


Essential Functions



  • Develop, propose, and implement strategies to enhance the Re-engagement Center's structure, policies, and practices, aiming to foster improved relationships and academic success for students.
  • Provide information and recommendations to principals, teachers, and other school personnel regarding students' social and emotional needs.
  • Explain available public and private agency services to parents and school staff to address children's needs.
  • Serve as a knowledgeable resource for Re-engagement Center staff and partners in mental health and social adjustment matters.
  • Deliver direct support services to students, parents, or school staff using a case management model, group work, and family counseling.
  • Maintain thorough documentation, conduct home visits, and intervene in crises as necessary.
  • Collaborate with school-based staff, partners, and students/families to determine appropriate interventions and ongoing support, particularly in mental health.
  • Analyze caseload data by tiers to identify required individual or group interventions and ensure consistent follow-up.
  • Review weekly intake data, updating caseloads and addressing discrepancies as needed.
  • Establish and maintain a secure record-keeping system to uphold confidentiality and accountability.
  • Document individual and group sessions.
  • Participate in staff meetings and collaborate with other service providers.
  • Utilizes resources appropriately to complete work in the most efficient manner; proactively communicates the status of work; participates and contributes fully as a team member; and exercises sound judgment and decision-making skills to resolve sensitive matters.
  • Maintains confidential and sensitive information.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies, administrative regulations, and the professional standards.

Desired Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in education or related field. Degree must be from an accredited college or institution. Social work degree preferred.
  • Ability to interact with diverse constituencies and convey complicated information with tact and diplomacy.
  • Proficient skill in the use of computer applications, including electronic databases, case management systems, and Microsoft Office, including Excel and Power Point.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships with school staff, faculty, students, families, and community partners.
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with school system employees and managers at all levels, as well as government agencies and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize changing assignments, and organize busy workload, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure, while exercising excellent attention to detail.

In accordance with Maryland law, City School is required to share the position salary ranges in its entirety. Please note, this is not the hiring range. The hiring range for this position is ($65,810 - $81,683).
