Basic Purpose: Oversee and participate with all Chemical Processors in shift activities of the Compounding Department.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and lead Chemical Processors in the cleaning, weighing, and manufacturing of bulk pharmaceutical batches.
  • Effectively use personnel to complete daily tasks and meet production goals while minimizing overtime, operating supplies, and cost.
  • Maintain Good Manufacturing Practices, Good Documentation Practices, and compliance in Safety and SOP Training.
  • Review all in-process and completed batch records, forms, and logbooks for accuracy and completeness.
  • Make oneself readily available to answer manufacturing questions and assist other Chemical Processors with weighing and compounding batches.
  • Take ownership of department equipment and issue maintenance request for items in need of repair.
  • Maintain current training status on all SOP, Safety Policies, and departmental tasks.
  • Ensure the proper completion of validations (cleaning, process, and equipment).
  • Maintain cleanliness of each manufacturing area and weekly cleaning logs are properly documented.
  • Other duties as assigned by management
Education/Training/Work Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous pharmaceutical experience or chemical manufacturing experience is required.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
  • Train-the-Trainer Certification is required to be completed within 2 months from entry of position.
  • Fundamental knowledge of cGMP's is required.
  • Good math, communication (written and verbal), time management, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness when documenting information and/or reviewing documents.
  • Some mechanical aptitude.
Equipment and Applications
  • Manufacturing tanks, purified water systems, scales, pumps, mills, and mixers.
  • Ability to use Inventory Management software is preferred
  • Ability to use outlook, word, excel
  • Powered Industrial Trucks - Obtain and then maintain a company issued PIT license
  • Drum Hauler - Must obtain and then maintain a company issued license to operate the drum hauler.
Work Environment and Physical Demands (List required PPE's)
  • Ability to work in a wet environment requiring additional PPE.
  • Maintain all manufacturing areas in a clean and sanitary condition and in compliance with GMP's.
  • Ability to wear respirator or PAPR
  • Ability to wear steel toed shoes
  • Be able to repeatedly lift 50 lbs.
