Job Title: Cable Technician - Installer
Location: Meta Data Centers, New Albany, OH Job Description: Our client is seeking dedicated Cable Technician - Installers to join their team at Meta data centers in New Albany, OH. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong work ethic and a desire to learn, with a special emphasis on former military veterans who bring valuable skills and experience, particularly those with trade school or electrical experience. Key Responsibilities: Install cabinets, cable trays, ladder racks, fiber runners, containment, and trunks. Perform installation and decommissioning of network and cabling infrastructure in a Data Center environment. Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes, with a focus on continuous improvement. Provide structured feedback on project progress to stakeholders. Exhibit quality workmanship and maintain Data Center cleanliness. Adhere to all production, safety, and quality standards, codes, and industry best practices. Collaborate with various stakeholders to remove project obstacles. Read and comprehend blueprints and building documentation/redline work. Demonstrate a broad understanding of Data Center infrastructure technologies. Skills and Qualifications: Proficiency with basic telecom hand tools. Strong customer service skills. Clear understanding of job safety requirements. Familiarity with wiring schemes and wiring tests. Ability to perform 4 pair continuity testing. Experience pulling all types of low voltage cable, including copper telecom cable. Skilled in performing all types of copper field terminations. Ability to install ladder racking and seismic bracing. Experience patching network equipment. Ability to read and understand Port Maps/Matrices, job floor plans, and TC drawings. Capable of performing field terminations and labeling. Experience installing and labeling Copper and Fiber Cabling. Ability to affix labels to cabling and power cords, barcoding equipment, and free printed labels. Experience cutting and installing threaded rods, Uni-strut, and fiber troughs. Ability to create/test bonding whips, straps, and connections. Understanding of the basics of "FIM" and operating scanners. Experience installing and testing coax cabling (series 6 & 11). Ability to install OSP cables through conduits and maintenance. Experience installing pull strings through conduits and ceilings. Ability to install ISP cables through conduits and ceilings. Experience installing box eliminators (mud rings) in drywall. Knowledge of installing/maintaining firestopping. Understanding and usage of fiber types (SM/MM/Ribbon). Experience installing and servicing network equipment. Ability to install ISP/OSP into cable enclosures (OSE). Physical Requirements: Primarily walking, standing, and bending for extended periods with some sitting. Effective communication skills, including verbal, written, visual, and listening. Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate required equipment and technical instruments. Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment, up to 50 pounds. Ability to pull cables and climb ladders to work on raised platforms. Top Skills: Cable installation, data center, structure, CATV, access, telecommunication, cabling, Cat5, Cat6, cable pulling, cable tech. Additional Skills & Qualifications: Strong work ethic and willingness to learn. Open to individuals with no cabling experience who are eager to enter the trade, as training will be provided. Familiarity with data center procedures (e.g., physical security, decommissioning, logistics) is a plus. Preference for candidates with some cabling experience. Ideal candidates are those who understand the challenges of the work and are eager to learn the trade.
