Essential Job Duties
Join our team as a Building Environmental Services Supervisor and play a key role in maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary spaces across campus. You will supervise Environmental Services Technicians (EVS Techs), develop schedules, allocate resources, manage inspections, respond to emergencies, and support staff training to uphold health and safety standards. You will maintain a safe and organized work environment while performing physically active tasks, including lifting up to 60-90 pounds as needed.
Key Responsibilities



  • Supervise and assign tasks to EVS Techs, ensuring balanced and efficient work distribution.

  • Develop and implement cleaning schedules and participate in team cleaning tasks and projects during breaks or when areas are accessible.

  • Allocate manpower, materials, and equipment to optimize service quality and efficiency.

  • Conduct inspections to maintain cleanliness, safety, and adherence to university standards.

  • Manage emergency responses and contingency plans for special situations.

  • Oversee staff training and performance, including proper use of EVS equipment and adherence to best practices.

  • Manage inventory and supplies through the AiM system.

  • Participate in testing new cleaning equipment, green products, and innovative methods to improve operations.

  • Conduct and attend meetings with University athletics clients to coordinate services and address needs.

Other Responsibilities

  • This position is considered essential personnel and may be required to report to campus under adverse weather conditions
  • Perform snow and ice removal within a team environment during inclement weather under the direction of the Associate Director, in addition to coordinating with co-workers during group responses to emergencies

Qualifications




Minimum Experience/Education
High School Diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
Some positions may require Certification or eligibility for Certification.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing teams of varying sizes.
  • Experience in environmental services or facility operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), Google mail, and other internet-based systems.
  • Proven experience managing staff, including assigning tasks, evaluating performance, and providing training or guidance.

  • APPA, IFMA, or BOMA certification preferred.

Required License or Certification

  • Valid North Carolina driver's license is required within 60 days of hire and must be maintained
