The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations. |
Posting Summary |
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Craft Trainee (New Brunswick) for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O). The
CRAFT Trainee Program is designed to develop well-trained, skilled workers to fill critical trade positions within the Rutgers Division of Institutional Planning and Operations. The Program provides an education and on-the-job training, as well as progressive employment and promotional opportunities leading to full journeyman status upon successful completion and graduation of the Program.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Perform a variety of semi-skilled duties in the trade area into which he/she is hired. M
- Must successfully complete the educational requirement in the trade while receiving on-the-job training.
- To remain eligible, trainees must improve and acquire a thorough knowledge of their specific trade and adhere to the regulations and policy on grades and attendance as required by the school and the University.
- Upon successful completion of both aspects of the program, the incumbent will attain full journeyman status.

Minimum Education and Experience |
- High school/vocational school or equivalent education.

Certifications/Licenses |
- Within six months of selection, must obtain a driver's license.
- Will be required to successfully complete the Rutgers Defensive Driving Course.
