What You'll Do as a Senior HVAC Controls Specialist on the IMPACT Fly Team

As a senior member of Johnson Controls' elite IMPACT Fly Team, you won't just support projects-you'll elevate them. With 75-100% travel, you'll be the go-to expert, flying in to solve complex challenges and ensure our building automation systems perform flawlessly.

Commission with Confidence

  • Lead validation of hardware and software commissioning for advanced HVAC and building automation systems.

  • Ensure every system meets performance specs, safety standards, and operational excellence.

Apply Deep Expertise

  • Leverage your advanced knowledge of HVAC controls and automation to troubleshoot, optimize, and fine-tune systems across diverse environments-from data centers to commercial campuses.

Collaborate Across Teams

  • Work directly with Project Managers and Field Technicians to support multiple high-stakes projects.

  • Provide technical guidance, hands-on support, and real-time problem-solving to keep timelines on track and systems running smoothly.

Be the Expert Who Shows Up When It Counts

  • Represent Johnson Controls at customer sites nationwide, delivering precision, professionalism, and peace of mind.

  • Be the trusted specialist who ensures every system is not just installed-but engineered to perform.

How will you do it

  • Loads system-level controller software

  • Performs advanced commissioning and system diagnostics from system-level controllers to end devices (such as sensors, actuators, etc.) and completes all required commissioning documentation

  • Keeps management and JCI contractors or customers informed of job progress and issues

  • Calibrate systems requiring basic electronic test equipment

  • Completes administrative tasks including but not limited to time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation

  • Documents change and provide information for as-built documentation

  • Communicate with the JCI contractor or customer upon arrival and before leaving the work site

  • Follows all safety standards and attends required safety training. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.

What we look for

  • Advanced computer skills (Metasys preferred)

  • Advanced knowledge of electrical testing and commissioning tools

  • Strong documentation acumen

  • Good communication and listening skills

  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems

  • Low voltage/120-volt wiring skills preferred

  • A valid driver's license, with no major or frequent traffic violations

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a seasoned HVAC Controls Specialist who brings technical mastery, field experience, and a commitment to excellence.

Technical Expertise

  • Advanced computer skills (Metasys preferred)

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical HVAC systems and building automation

  • Proficiency with electrical testing and commissioning tools

  • Experience with low-voltage and 120V wiring (preferred)

Detail-Oriented & Disciplined

  • Exceptional documentation skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records

Strong Communicator

  • Excellent listening and communication skills for customer-facing interactions

  • Ability to collaborate across teams and represent Johnson Controls with professionalism

Ready to Roll

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

  • Willingness to travel 75-100% of the time as part of the IMPACT Fly Team
