Job Description: Laboratory Aide - PRN - Hours/Days Vary: 8am-430pm The Laboratory Aide performs processing, ordering testing when indicated and accessioning of specimens in the department. Assist with assigned clerical, quality control and quality assurance duties as well as answering phones, relaying patient results, and monitoring pending logs. Aide may perform some waived or moderately complex testing. Aides are expected to assist with phlebotomy and processing duties when requested, participated in continuing education. Job Duties: Performs data entry of patient information, ordering of tests, scheduling tests, etc. in laboratory computer. Prints, sorts and distributes lab reports; answers telephone and relays messages. Takes Physician orders for outpatient lab testing. Notifies phlebotomists of orders to be collected and communicates test information and results to physicians, nurses and outside clients. Transports specimens to the processing area or appropriate lab department. Receives outpatients and gives prompt service. Must possess and demonstrate excellent communication skills, initiative, tact, diplomacy, and dependability to perform all the duties of the position. Requirements: HS or GED is required.
