Overview
St. John Fisher University is an independent, liberal arts institution that provides a transformative education to approximately 3,800 undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students each year. Across its five Schools, Fisher offers nearly 40 majors in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, business, education, and nursing; 11 pre-professional programs; and master's and doctoral programs in business, nursing, education, pharmacy, and public health. Job Responsibilities
* Responsibilities involve the direct supervision of housekeeping staff to ensure that a high level of cleanliness in assigned areas.
* Lead the staff selection process. Phone screen, interview, check references and make hiring recommendations to the Manager.
* Write performance evaluations and conduct performance reviews of each staff member.
* Schedule vacations, ensuring that University needs are met.
* Assign personnel to established work areas or project duties.
* Plan and coordinate project work to ensure that proper frequencies are maintained.
* Ensure that staff receives proper orientation, initial training, and ongoing education including safety training.
* Ensure duty lists are revised and current at all times. Review duty lists with full time and temporary staff periodically.
* Ensure that proper supply control guidelines are followed and staff is trained in the use of all chemicals.
* Proactive approach to identifying and correcting facility quality and safety assurance concerns. Timely follow-up is required.
* Conduct daily meeting with staff at the beginning of the shift to adjust assignments based on attendance.
* Provide and monitor individual guidance and motivation to housekeepers to enable each one to perform to his/her fullest potential.
* Address performance issues with housekeepers when necessary according to progressive disciplinary guidelines.
* Monitor housekeeper's attendance and take proactive action when patterns of absenteeism are observed.
* Keep records and appropriate log books current and maintain all necessary documentation.
* Perform Quality Assurance Inspections on a daily basis, document results and provide feedback to the housekeeper.
* Assign equipment to staff. Monitor daily equipment use, cleaning and maintenance.
* Ensure that all equipment is clean and professional in appearance at all times.
* Respond to concerns and requests with a sense of urgency and take necessary corrective action including timely follow-up.
* Participate in department safety program and maintain a safe work environment at all times.
* Report all unsafe equipment and acts to supervisor.
* Assure that the integrity of security at the facility is maintained at all times.
* Handle special requests or projects and perform other duties as assigned.
* Assist housekeepers on an as needed basis.
* Ensure Housekeeping office, storage, and closets are clean, organized, well maintained, and professional in appearance at all times.
* Must be able to read and understand Material Data Safety Sheets and explain to housekeeping staff.
Education / Experience
Minimum of High School diploma. Multi-lingual is a plus
Minimum of four years of housekeeping supervisory experience plus eight years' housekeeping experience. Familiarity with personal computers is mandatory.

Equipment to be Used
All types of power cleaning equipment including but not limited to; auto scrubber, buffer, high speed burnisher, shampooer/extractor rotary scrubbers and vacuums. Various hand tools such as mops, brooms, scrapers, and other tools necessary to complete assigned tasks.
