Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and attentive Concrete Mold Caster to join our production team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the meticulous preparation of molds used in concrete casting. This role is crucial in ensuring the quality and precision of our concrete products.

A Day In The Life

  • Prepare and wax metal molds and cores on a raised platform to ensure they are ready for casting, applying specialized coatings to facilitate easy demolding and high-quality surface finishes.
  • Skillfully apply and shape fiberglass inside molds using hands and large scissors, reinforcing the molds to maintain structural integrity during the casting process.
  • Operate an overhead hoist to accurately position and secure the "hat" over the mold, ensuring proper alignment and stability.
  • Mix and pour concrete into molds, carefully managing the distribution to achieve a smooth, even finish and optimal structural quality.
  • Utilize a vibrator to effectively remove air pockets from the concrete and achieve a flawless finish on the surface.
  • After casting, unhook and meticulously clean molds, preparing them for the next batch to maintain continuous operation and product quality.
  • Manage and maintain tools and equipment used in the casting and finishing processes, ensuring they are in good working order and available as needed.

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Proven experience as a Castor, Mold Technician or similar within an industrial or manufacturing setting (preferred)
  • Strong attention to detail (required)
  • Ability to read and understand written and verbal work instructions (required)
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (required)
  • Ability to lift up to 35lbs alone or 50lbs in a team (required)
  • Previous experience with various power tools and overhead cranes/hoist (preferred)
  • Previous experience working in a non-climate-controlled environment with varying temperatures (preferred)
  • Previous experience working with exposure to noise, dust and fiberglass (preferred)
  • Employees in this role are required to wear PPE (Eyewear, safety toe shoes, ear plugs, aprons or sleeves, hard hats/bump caps and face shields in all or some areas of work)
  • Reliable Transportation (required)
