SCOPE OF POSITION:

To implement a vibrant Christian education curriculum in camp chapel devotions and ensure effective integration into daily activities.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
* High School Diploma/GED minimum requirement
* At least two seasons of camp experience or youth work equivalent
* Have a valid Driver's License.
* Must be at least 18 years of age.
* Prior leadership experience preferred.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Christian Education:
* Plan, lead, and coordinate inspiring daily chapel services for campers and staff with well-planned and executed biblical teaching and education, following The Salvation Army doctrines. Include elements of service, including songs, memory verses, purposeful activities, story times, and reflection/discussion times.
* Lead and coordinate with the Creative Coordinator to integrate the Christian education curriculum into daily activities.
* Create and execute daily spiritual activities for cabins, which include object lessons and basic Christian principles.
* Coordinate Christian education resource materials and ideas for Cabin Leaders cabin devotions.
* Coordinate the distribution of Bibles and/or other resources to campers weekly.
* Assist the creative team in integrating the Christian education curriculum into weekly themes.
* Coordinate and assist Cabin Leaders with the compiling of all weekly seeker forms.
* Compile and input seeker form information for easy access through the camper software program.
* Incorporate the creative team, logistics team, camp staff, and any special guests into chapel programming.
* Ensure the integrity of the Christian education curriculum within the summer camp program by communicating regularly with the creative team regarding activities and the summer program.

General Duties:
* Foster and nurture Christian faith and discipleship in visible, fruitful ways in, and with campers and staff.
* Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment, and facilities
* Assist with the implementation of summer camp staff orientation, including volunteers and guest staff.
* Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff, volunteers, and campers.
* Encourage adherence to camp & Salvation Army policies and procedures
* Ensure and provide for the supervision and physical/emotional safety of campers and staff
* May be required to serve as Break Day Supervisor at times during the season.
* May be requested to pass the Food Handler Exam.
* Participate and/or assist in all summer camp programs as required e.g. chapel, staff meetings, campfire, camp-wide games, night-watch, free-time, electives, rise and shine duty, etc.
* Ensure and assist in the cleanliness of your living quarters and outside area
* Perform any other duties as assigned by the Camp Director or DYCS

* Be a Christian with a strong, demonstrated commitment to following Jesus Christ, and biblical principles, who is enthusiastic, energetic, and creative in spiritual leadership.
* Ability to supervise and provide guidance to staff and campers
* Ability to assist in creating unique, fun, and safe games and activities for campers
* Responsible individual with a desire to work with youth
* Must possess leadership skills, with the ability to plan, originate, organize, and execute special programs
* Ability to teach and lead several activities

* Strong use of the English language in verbal and written communication
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain poise under pressure

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
* Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, hike and twist continuously
* Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects.
* Ability to lift to 25 lbs.
* Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
* There may be phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds who may be angry, hostile, confused, or frustrated.
* May be required to work in all areas of camp including, but not limited to, the kitchen, dish room, laundry facility, and grounds.
* The ability to work in a distinctively Christian environment.
* Possible exposure to communicable diseases.
* Work outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather.
* Works around dust, odor, and high noise levels.

MISCELLANEOUS:
The Salvation Army does have a dress code. This will be shared with you at the time of employment.

The candidate chosen for this position will be required to pass a motor vehicle record check. They must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
