Job Description

The shift Coordinator, Plant Operations Controls/Supervisor will be responsible for and ensure the efficient operation of all plant machinery, equipment, and systems while maintaining safety and quality standards. This role combines technical expertise, leadership, and strong organizational skills to ensure the smooth functioning of plant operations and compliance with institutional and regulatory standards. Responsibilities include:

Role Overview

    Supervising the quantity and quality of work to ensure established timeframes are met and reporting progress to management.
  • Inspecting and testing generators, HVAC systems, and other plant machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Responding courteously to customer inquiries and ensuring compliance with institutional policies, safety standards, and OSHA regulations.
  • Maintaining logs and records of systems data, time worked, and supplies needed, producing required reports.
  • Participating as a member of the Fire Brigade and restoring fire and sprinkler systems after emergencies.
  • Supervising and mentoring plant operations staff, including hiring, training, and evaluating team members.
  • Operating, maintaining, repairing, and installing plant machinery, including heating, air conditioning, ventilation, and medical support equipment.

Key Qualifications

  • 7-10 years of proven experience.
  • Sufficient knowledge to handle assignments of routine and non-routine difficulty with minimal directions
  • NYC FDNY Certificates of Fitness, including:
  • Q01 Refrigeration System Operating Engineer (RSOE) (upon application).
  • S12/S13 Citywide Sprinkler/Standpipe System (within 1 year).
  • B29 Supervision of Battery Systems (within 6 months).
  • P98, G60, F60, A35, G71, G79 certificates (within 6 months).
  • CHP Operator Certificate and BOC Building Operator Certificate (within 1 year).
  • Additional certificates as deemed vital by MSKCC.

Core Skills

  • Expertise in using hand and power tools, rigging equipment, and instruments such as pressure gauges, flow meters, pyrometers, and tachometers.
  • Strong computer proficiency to enter and retrieve information using programs for work orders, building automation, and maintenance management.
  • Sophisticated math and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Effective interpersonal skills in English, both written and verbal, to complete forms and connect with staff and stakeholders.
  • Proven track record to maintain safety and infection control standards in a healthcare setting.

Additional Information:

  • Location: MSK's Main Campus, 1275 York Ave, NYC.
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday, 6am-2pm or 7am-3pm.
  • Reports to Manager, Plant Operations Controls Systems
