Who You'll Work With
You will be a part of our Human Resources Operations Team based in our Tampa Service Center (TSC) located in St. Petersburg, FL. The HR Operations Team is a part of McKinsey's People Operations function that includes Recruiting, PD and Talent Operations teams.
Your impact within our firm
The centralized HR Operations team provides HR support to primarily U.S. based colleagues, as well as thought partnership on specialized topics like onboarding, leaves of absence and offboarding. The team has a broad scope of responsibility across the HR spectrum and is dedicated to the practice of risk management and continuous operational process improvement. You will partner with Payroll, Benefits, and regional HR teams, and our counterpart HR Operations teams in India and Poland to align on centralized, global HR processes.
You will support the full life cycle of our firm Members, including case management of the full onboarding and offboarding processes, including managing immigration details, background screenings, etc. with a risk mitigation mindset.
You will manage the administration of all leaves of absence in partnership with regional HR/PD teams.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day administration of a variety of HR processes and programs, including but not limited to benefits, payroll, tuition reimbursement program, in collaboration with the respective teams.
You will be the first point of contact for, and communicate effectively with, Firm Members on benefits, payroll, and other HR matters via e-mail and phone.
You will aid in addressing concerns, solving complex HR issues and administering general policies in collaboration with office-based HR teams throughout the US.
You will be responsible for collaborating and effectively communicating well with all stakeholders including but not limited to regional HR teams, Payroll teams, Benefits teams, Professional Development teams, Recruiting teams.
You will be responsible for managing data in McKinsey's People Systems in a timely, accurate manner. You may also complete analysis and reporting of HR data with the use of Firm databases to maintain the integrity of the data.
You will focus on continuous process improvement to drive efficiency and consistent team performance, including defining best practices and SOPs, active knowledge sharing and championing HR projects within the team as needed.
You will help foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
You will assist with the training of new HR Operations team members over time.
You will manage and support multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, often of varying degree and difficulty, with differing levels of priority.
Your qualifications and skills
  • Bachelor's degree in HR or related field preferred
  • 2+ years professional experience, preferably in HR or professional services environment
  • Exceptional accuracy combined with a focus on efficiency
  • Demonstrated personal responsibility and process ownership that drives high-quality results
  • Customer service orientation framed by exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information, personal integrity, excellent judgement and high ethical standards
  • Ability to dive into complex, ambiguous situations and bring them to an effective resolution
  • Independent project management skills, flexibility, and organization; excellent time management skills, ability to prioritize independently and flex priorities constantly
  • Natural curiosity to understand a process and ability to retain and build on knowledge and experiences
  • Genuine interest in taking on more responsibilities and challenges involving additional complexity
  • Stress tolerance related to time sensitive and varying deadlines
  • Ability to provide and receive feedback in a constructive, open manner
  • Strong problem solving abilities combined with a bias to simplify complicated processes and a drive to bring items to an impactful resolution
  • Skilled in deductive reasoning, i.e., the ability to apply general guidelines to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
  • Ability to shift between the big picture and details without getting stuck in either
  • In office presence is expected from colleagues
