Who You'll Work With
You'll be part of our ThroughputX team in one of our locations in the US. Our ThroughputX team helps clients primarily in the manufacturing industries (pharmaceuticals, semi-conductors, automotive etc.) and commodities industries (mining, metals, chemicals, agriculture, oil&gas) by deploying advanced analytics and discrete event simulation to optimize and control volatility in supply chains.
The ThrougputX team is part of the Manufacturing and Supply Chain Solutions group which is focused on developing and deploying tech-enablement solutions for the Manufacturing and Supply Chain functions across industries.
Your impact within our firm
You will be assisting McKinsey consulting teams, providing expert client service in strategic and operational topics and contributing to new product development.
The work with client teams of typically 3-5 consultants will be on-site and off-site. You will be supporting operational excellence engagements and develop recommendations to optimize client operations. This includes gathering and analyzing information leveraging advance analytics methodologies and discrete simulation tools, e.g., Anylogic, SimPy, Simio etc., formulating and testing hypotheses, and developing and communicating recommendations. You may also be responsible for presenting results to client management and implementing recommendations with client team members.
You will also participate in the development of products and approaches that help clients improve their manufacturing and supply chain operations.
You'll have the opportunity to gain new skills and build on the strengths you bring to the firm. Software Delivery Analysist receive exceptional training as well as frequent coaching and mentoring.
Your qualifications and skills
  • Bachelor's degree and excellent academic record required; advanced degree preferred, degree in mathematics/computer science/data science is plus
  • 1+ years of experience/understanding of dynamic simulation models (using software like Python, Simio, Arena, Anylogic etc.), experience in building optimization model using Python, well versed with linear programming, mixed integer optimization, metaheuristics (e.g. genetic, ant colony optimization, differential evolution algorithm)
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Skills to communicate complex ideas effectively
  • Exhibit self-motivation and high service-orientated work ethic
  • Passion for analytics and interest in learning and developing new approaches to solve a problem
  • Experience in one of the following industries advantageous but not required: Mining, Metals/ Steel, Chemicals, Agriculture, Automotive, Transport/ Logistics
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
