Summary of Position

The Director of Inventory and Material Management will report to the Vice President of Supply Chain and will be an integral part of our Supply Chain Team working daily with our Manufacturing, Procurement, and Finance Teams. In this position, The Director of Inventory and Material Management, will be responsible for a 7-person team, assigned to the management and planning of ~$20M+ in material across 10, distinctly different, manufacturing locations. As a critical part of the Supply Chain Team, the Inventory and Material Management team owns the buying, material planning, and inventory management. As Director, you will drive these efforts and will be tasked with transforming the team, driving them to become best in class.

This position requires 20% travel, and candidate will be required to work out of an onsite office.

Responsibilities

  • Develop team and organization, driving a culture of accountability, that works cross-functionally across our business. Establish clear goals to ensure adherence to annual targets.
  • Establish KPI's around inventory and material planning. Work with Business Intelligence Team to operationalize data into interactive dashboards. Run weekly / monthly operating mechanisms reporting out on key inventory and material stocking levels, variance, and improvement plans.
  • Own monthly and annual physical inventory processes. Work with Finance and other teams to support, reporting out on variances, and implement process changes.
  • Collaborate with Procurement and others within the Supply Chain to create material stocking levels (PFEP - Plan for Every Part) and strategies, accounting for economic and other risks to supply chain, to maximize days inventory on-hand and reduce technical / financial obsolescence.
  • Identify process improvement areas and digitization efforts. Work cross-functionally using Lean and other tools to improve processes.
  • Play a critical role in annual budget process, creating annual goals with Supply Chain Leadership.
  • Participate in daily production meeting, SIOP, and other production related rhythms ensuring material levels are met to maintain production.
  • Monitor variance analysis on make / buy parts, identifying month over month variance between invoice and standards. Work with Procurement on establishing and developing cost out targets.
  • Manage SKU and BOM creation, inventory relabeling, and rework.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, engineering, finance, or supply chain.
  • 7+ years of experience in Supply Chain leading teams.
  • Broad understanding of Supply Chain concepts, such as demand planning, buying, inventor management, and S&OP.
  • Demonstrated history of building and transforming teams.
  • Critical thinking skills with ability to independently mine, transform, and analyze large amounts of data using various systems and data analytics tools.
  • Executive level written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with using ERP systems and other procurement software (JDE, SAP, Coupa etc.).
  • Ability to travel domestically ~20% of the time.

Desired Skills

  • MBA or other procurement certifications, such as: CSCP, CPIM, or CPSM.
  • Experience and understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Prior history of enacting change both organizationally and across IT system.
  • Knowledge of big data, working in Power BI, and ability digitize KPI's.
  • Business acumen with ability to translate results to balance sheet.
  • Experience in infrastructure construction, manufacturing, and or subcontracting.
  • Highly proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
