DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Independently interrogate patient devices scheduled within the clinic during office hours. Oversee and perform remote monitoring with selected patients routinely by managing vendor website and clinic scheduling systems, contacting patients via phone or portal, and letter correspondence for non-compliant patients. Performs initial post-implant device interrogation during the follow-up clinic visit to educate on device function and communication, and to set expectations on remote monitoring schedule. Problem-solve and then reprogram devices as directed by the electrophysiology (EP) physicians/care team.

Discuss non-urgent findings with the EP care team. Troubleshoot patient compliance issues and assist with triage for device patients. Develop atrial fibrillation (AFib) control parameters with physicians for the protocol to allow independent programming changes. Enroll patients on the vendor website and input information in the master list for patient panel management. Create documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) based on information gathered in the device interrogation or from remote download. Identifies and manages device-related regulatory issues including advisories, safety notifications, recalls, device tracking, and lost to follow-up patients. Ensure accurate scheduling and documentation for charge capture. May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.

One of the following:

--Two (2) years of applicable clinical cardiology or electrophysiology (EP) experience;

or --Clinical Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by the National Healthcareer Association (NHA);

or --Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA);

or --Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by the American Medical Technologists (AMT);

or --Medical Assistant (NCMA) by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT);

or --Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) by the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP);

or --Medical Assistant Certification (MAC) by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA);

or --Associates degree in health or exercise-related field;

or --Missouri Board of Nursing LPN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state LPN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state LPNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of Medtronic, Boston Scientific, St. Jude Medical, Biotronic, and other device programmers is highly preferred. Experience with the use of an electronic health record (EHR). Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
