GENERAL SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting in the preparation of the annual capital and operating budget, service line profitability reporting, monthly management reporting and department productivity and benchmark comparisons. Provides integral assistance to auditors as it relates to areas of expertise.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.

2. *Serves as a contact for analysis of financial information and other customer support.

3. *Completes financial analyses, report preparation, journal entries and detailed review & analysis to ensure accurate and timely processing per departmental and regulatory standards.

4. *Assesses user needs and makes necessary improvements as they relate to general accounting functions within accepted standards.

5. Assists with the support of the Cash Posting System and reconciliation tasks performed by the entity.

6. *Understands, utilizes and educates others regarding accepted accounting theory and practice to prepare and interpret a broad range of financial reports used by internal managers and the Board of Trustees.

7. *Assists the controller with departmental financial plans, forecasts, and annual budgets for all entities within Grand Island Regional Medical Center (GIRMC).

8. *Partners with the business to perform financial statement analytics to provide explanations on account fluctuations.

9. *Performs detailed review and analysis for major balance sheet and income statement accounts for GIRMC.

10. *Prepares supporting reports for use by the Controller and senior management.

11. Reviews and verifies organizational contracts and tracks contract compliance.

12. Ensures compliance with and minimizes tax liability through sound and informed application of federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.

13. *Oversees the productivity system and Strata operational comparative database.

14. *Analyzes transactions and performs reconciliations related to GIRMC's investments, acts as a liaison between external auditors, investment advisors and trust agents. Provides investment notes for quarterly and year-end financial statements.

15. Serves as the system administrator for all software-based issues related to Infor (Lawson) and Strata.

16. Maintains subsidiary ledger detail as requested and verifies reconciliation to the general ledger.

17. *Prepares all journal entries for financial statements; assists the Controller with their audit including work papers, financial statement notes and year-end schedules.

18. *Coordinates budget preparation and training for leadership.

19. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

20. Participates in meetings, committees and department projects as assigned.

21. Performs other related projects and duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1. Knowledge of accepted accounting theory and practice.

2. Knowledge of applicable federal, state and local tax laws and regulations.

3. Knowledge of quality improvement, budgetary and financial methods and practices.

4. Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions.

5. Skill in accessing information from various computer databases and merging the information into a usable format.

6. Skill in assisting customers in a patient and appropriate manner with questions and concerns.

7. Ability to experience identifying, improving and maintaining internal controls.

8. Ability to effectively work across multiple departments to complete a project or resolve an organizational challenge.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field of study required. Minimum of three (3) years accounting experience preferred. Additional knowledge of healthcare regulations desired.
