Cox Enterprises is currently looking for a Senior Manager, Legal Strategy and Operations to join our team in Atlanta, Georgia .

The Role:

The Senior Manager, Legal Strategy and Operations will manage the strategic direction and operational efficiency of the enterprise Law & Policy department, bridging silos and maximizing organization effectiveness. This role is pivotal in establishing functional strategic planning, setting department goals, and delivering outcomes. The Senior Manager will liaise with key boundary partners and SME teams to execute initiatives and technology implementations. The successful candidate will oversee project portfolio management, drive process improvement initiatives, and enable technology solutions that enhance legal operations. By standardizing prioritization, collaborating with cross-functional SME teams, and improving workflows the Senior Manager will ensure attorneys can focus on delivering high-quality legal advice while generating actionable insights for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Develop and implement long-term strategic plans and short-term tactical goals that align with the overall corporate objectives, ensuring clarity and relevance in the legal department's mission.
  • Design and maintain a comprehensive system for tracking and reporting on departmental OKRs, ensuring accountability and alignment across teams.


Operations & Financial Management

  • Oversee the implementation and management of e-Billing systems, ensuring compliance with billing guidelines and streamlining invoicing processes for external counsel.
  • Manage the administrative functions related to outside counsel engagement, including tracking and processing invoices, maintaining records, and ensuring timely payments.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve processes related to outside counsel management, e-Billing, and back-office operations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Partner with Finance teams to effectively manage budgets.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization within the legal department, driving initiatives that enhance efficiency and effectiveness, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement in partnership with enterprise enablement teams.
  • Establish and track performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of operations and initiatives, providing regular updates and insights to senior leadership.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performance team within the legal operations function, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.


Technology Enablement

  • Partner with technology organization to implement and leverage technology solutions that streamline legal operations, improve communication, and facilitate data-driven decision-making. Manage technology vendor performance programs.
  • Manage relationships, performance, and agreements with technology providers.
  • Manage roadmaps for department capabilities, application, and data strategies.


Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with attorneys, Law & Policy staff, cross-functional teams, and executive leadership to ensure alignment of legal operations with business objectives and to facilitate the execution of high-impact initiatives.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, law, or a related discipline and 8 years' experience in strategic planning, project management, or operations within a legal or corporate environment. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 6 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 3 years' experience in a related field; or 12 years' experience in a related field.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage change, and drive strategic initiatives to completion.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS technology applications and project management software; experience with data analytics and performance measurement.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information and generate actionable insights.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey information to a diverse audience, including executive leadership.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in business or JD.
  • PMP, Green Belt or similar project management or process improvement certification.


USD 108,800.00 - 181,400.00 per year

Compensation:

Compensation includes a base salary of $108,800.00 - $181,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Benefits:

The Company offers eligible employees the flexibility to take as much vacation with pay as they deem consistent with their duties, the company's needs, and its obligations; seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year; and up to 160 hours of paid wellness annually for their own wellness or that of family members. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, and parental leave.
