Mercy Fort Smithis undergoing a $162 million expansion of its ER and ICU. The ER will expand from 29 to 50 rooms, and the ICU will increase from 38 to 64 rooms. This expansion will enable approximately 25,000 additional patient visits per year. This significant development will allow us to better meet the needs of our community in a world-class environment.

Overview:

The Charge Registered Nurse utilizing theoretical concepts as a basis for decisions in practice will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in accordance with standards of nursing practice.

Responsibilities include conducting timely and systematic patient assessments, developing and updating outcome-oriented care plans, providing professional nursing care and delegating tasks appropriately, evaluating the effectiveness of care and education, and maintaining effective, accurate, and confidential communication. This involves involving patients and significant others in the care process, performing procedures, documenting progress, and ensuring all communication and documentation adhere to organizational policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

    • Graduated from a school of nursing (Associate's Degree, Diploma, or BSN).

  • Licensure:

    • Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.

  • Experience:

    • Must have at least 3 months of RN experience in ICU.

  • Certifications:

    • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire.
