Our flavor creation and application team is the foundation and creative force of our Taste and Wellbeing division. They develop creative new food product concepts, evaluate new flavor profiles and delivery technologies, and most importantly, assist our Account Managers in winning new business using the combination of art and science, intimately bound with human psychologies and cultures.

Reporting to the innovation applications group lead, this Cincinnati, Ohio-based position, your primary focus will be to work on projects related to innovation and apply knowledge during the flavor selection, evaluation and application development. Be the technical expert, and advisor, to marketing, sales, flavor creation, and customers for specific category applications. The Innovation team has dedicated technical resources, taken out of the daily customer briefs, which can now focus on building commercial innovation by using existing technologies to develop holistic customer solutions that can go straight to market.

This will be an Applications Scientist to work on Regional Innovation work collaborating with Savory Product Management and Savory Flavor Creation & Application Segment. You will handle new ingredients from Science & Technology in regional application formats. You will also cover multiple applications of food, so generalist in sauces, processed meals, and dairy.

• Showcase your Technical Expertise: Lead evaluations of flavors in applications for briefs, research projects and portfolio evaluations. Select flavors for projects according to specified requirements (i.e. customer, regulatory, legislation, costs) and suggest improvements for the most common applications. Identify appropriate flavor delivery systems and technologies for customer projects in specific applications.

• Partner and Influence: Gain trust and respect of project partners and team members. Maintain the flavor performance data for the flavor portfolio through evaluation in finished product and capture of profiles. Collaborate on project ideas and project plans as assigned.

• Manage Organizational Effectiveness: Maintain a safe, clean and organized lab environment observing EH&S policies and hold others accountable for following these guidelines. Manage projects.

You?

• B.S. in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or other as relevant with work experience
• 4+ years experience in a food applications lab, production, or related area;
• Understanding of food applications, ingredients, and processes with experience in customers' food manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of flavor reactions/interactions in common food products and the ability to recommend flavor modifications based on performance.
• Experience with specific technical applications and basic skills in multiple applications areas.
