Full-Time Days

Monday-Friday

A leader position responsible for effective coordination and oversight of daily patient care activities in the Radiology Department. Accountable for optimization of technical staff resources as well as supplies. Functions as a liaison with the radiologists, physicians, staff and leadership. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge and understanding of the processes and procedures relating to all imaging services provided and the utilization of radiation. This includes imaging techniques, computer processing, and QA/QC programs. Assists in formulating strategies for monitoring and assuring quality and quality improvement. Provides coordination, management & education in all aspects relating to Imaging at the Hospital & Sunnybrook Imaging & Breast Screening Center. Responsible for customer service initiatives, staff coaching and all aspects of leading staff. The Manager shall provide the technical knowledge, expertise and professional judgment required to support the mission and goal of Unity Point Health, St. Luke's.

Responsibilities

Department Management

  • Provides appropriate supervision and development of subordinates. Establishes and oversees a program to ensure the availability of a trained & competent staff through regular review and documentation. Orients new employees to the workplace including procedures, policies, safety information and general department information. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, maintaining current employee files. Implements Corrective Action & Success Models as warranted. Actively participate and encourage staff development & education.
  • Identifies problem situations, develops and implements effective decisions. Accurately maintains the necessary procedures, documentation and records to ensure operations are in "inspection ready" state to meet all applicable standards, accreditations & regulations by the governing bodies. Accurately maintains & holds staff accountable for the necessary documentation and records to comply with regulatory guidelines established by the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the DNV (Det Norske Veritas) accreditation body. Maintains appropriate documentation for MSQA requirements (state, federal & ACR).
  • Adequately utilizes resources of the organization to include personnel, materials, and equipment. Develops annual budgets and identifies revenue enhancing opportunities. Researches, evaluates, budgets and submits proposals for replacement of equipment. Participates in the development of strategic planning for areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all customers. Conducts regular staff meetings to in service, communicate, update staff members for efficient and safe operations, changes in protocols/processes. Acts as a resource to assist staff with understanding and compliance with mandated policies & procedures. Maintains communication with Imaging Administration, staff and physicians in a professional manner. Seeks the advice of the Imaging Services Director with problems as necessary
  • Involved with, develops and/or implements new ideas, concepts and/or changes that would be advantageous to the Health System.

  • Responsive in taking care of customer needs to develop alternatives and solutions that create a Total customer Satisfaction environment. Responsible to ensure the delivery of quality & effective services to all customers.   • Formulates realistic personal and service goals, provides effective leadership in accomplishment of goals in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in the clinical and/or service quality process.
  • Promotes & exhibits a positive public relations image through productive and professional interactions with nurses, physicians, visitors, patients, peers, supervisors, and other hospital personnel.
  • Facilitates learning environment for Imaging staff, students and new hires through in-service instruction and clinical supervision.
  • Practices & monitors radiation protection for patients, employees & oneself during all procedures.

Leadership

  • Actively participates & leads Departmental PI projects; including but not limited to, Press Ganey scores, Employee Relations, Policy Development etc. Is attentive to detail and accuracy, is committed to excellence, looks for improvements continuously, monitors quality levels, finds root cause of quality problems, owns/acts on quality problems.
  • Development of Supervisory role by attending various departmental, Administrative Meetings & educational opportunities. Communication & Commitment to Administrative Changes both within the hospital and the Department
  • Positively Adapts to change, is open to new ideas, takes on new responsibilities, and adjusts plans to meet changing needs. Portrays positive attitude to staff regarding system/departmental changes
  • Proactively tackles problems and takes independent action, seeks out new responsibilities, acts on opportunities, generates new ideas, practices self-development. Anticipates and prevents problems, defines problems, overcomes obstacles, generates alternative solutions, helps solve team problems. Leads implementation of process changes & follow up as appropriate.

Support & Education to Staff

  • Has good listening skills, builds strong relationships, is flexible/open minded, solicits performance feedback and handles constructive criticism. Builds strong communication lines with staff
  • Works well in groups, helps resolve conflicts, facilitates various staff or departmental meetings, works well with other departments, is flexible and open-minded, and focuses team on strategies and goals. Goal development through PI projects
  • Maintains knowledge & actively participates in updating of current department protocols and equipment.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

Education:

* Graduation of Radiology program accredited through the American Registry or Radiologic Technology approved by IDPH (effective January, 2005)

* Bachelor Degree

Experience:

* 5 to 7 years leadership experience.

License(s)/Certification(s):

* Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

* American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

* Iowa Permit to Practice.

* BLS.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

* Knowledge of all Imaging Services provided at the Hospital

* Adherence to all State/Federal/Professional accreditation & regulatory bodies/policies/procedures within scope of services.

* Leadership Experience. Managerial, supervisory skills & competencies. Organizational competencies

* Written & Verbal Communication Skills

* Responsibility for delivery of care for services to all customers

* Knowledge of Budgetary development & processes

* Works independently, organizational skills

* CPT Coding/Billing knowledge
