Bigelow 7 is in search of a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA). This individual must be able to provide Day or Night shift schedule, and coverage on rotating weekends and holidays.
The adult general medicine inpatient unit has eighteen-beds for patients, and is located in Boston, MA. The unit is devoted to the care of the acutely ill and Level 1 Trauma patients from the emergency and intensive care units. The patient population on this unit includes a diverse mix of medical diagnoses requiring complex nursing care.

What are we looking for?

The PCA plays a crucial role in providing exceptional care to our patients in the Medical Unit. As a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will assist in clinical support functions to promote a safe and compassionate patient care environment. Your contributions will directly impact the lives of patients and their families during critical moments of their healthcare journey.

  • Assisting the healthcare team, the PCA promotes a safe and caring environment for patients under the mentorship of an RN.

  • PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.

  • Effective customer service orientation and the ability to interact with diverse groups of patients, staff and providers.

  • Demonstrated ability to solve basic patient and practice problems using a combination of strong interpersonal and communication skills, attention to detail and superior organizational skills.

  • Ability to lift and transport patients, using the appropriate physical technique, in a safe manner for the patient and self.

Required: Must haverecent experience,and/ortraining,in clinical patient care.

Preferred:Licensed, certified, or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire,OR Candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at leastone semester of patient care rotationscompleted, at time of hire.
