Job Overview
Lead UC Online's social media strategy to amplify the university's reputation, drive student engagement, and support recruitment efforts. This role will oversee social media campaigns including research, campaign and content creation, execution, monitoring and reporting.
Essential Functions
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy that aligns with UC Online's recruitment, engagement, and reputation goals, while staying responsive to emerging trends in digital marketing. Craft compelling storytelling campaigns that showcase UC Online's impact on students, alumni, and the broader community, strengthening brand loyalty and trust.
- Promote UC accomplishments in social communities by developing relevant content topics to reach the university's target audiences. Create messaging, curate news and manage all published content (images/video/text). Develop and expand community and/or influencer outreach efforts.
- Support UC marketing recruitment and reputation campaigns by mapping out a comprehensive marketing plan for social media. Drive strategies that are proven by testing and metrics. Analyze and report on effectiveness of campaigns to maximize results. Compile weekly reports for management illustrating effort and impact results (ROI).
- Analyze data to optimize content and placement.
- Lead generation including cultivation of leads for student recruitment. Create, manage and optimize lead generation campaigns. Pitch organic lead generation strategies that can be executed on our social media channels to support recruitment efforts. Establish, measure & analyze ROI and analyze key metrics and tweak strategy as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including recruitment, academic program leaders, and the Central Marketing & Communications office, to create cohesive and impactful social media strategies that drive enrollment and engagement. Maintain editorial calendar to maximize exposure and cohesion.
- Support accessibility as an advocate and expert for Section 508 and ADA compliance and creating an inclusive environment on our social media channels.
- Monitor and report risk by identifying threats and opportunities in user-generated content surrounding the university. Report notable threats to appropriate management. Monitor brand mentions identifying and limiting risks (including campus emergencies, student/faculty/staff harm or dissent, customer service needs, etc.). Monitor effective benchmarks and best practices for measuring the impact of campaigns.
- Stay at the forefront of social media trends and technologies, piloting innovative strategies such as influencer marketing, live streaming, and AR/VR to enhance UC Online's digital presence.
- May provide direct and/or indirect supervision to exempt and non-exempt staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary action, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree
- Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
Required Experience
- Three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Experience managing social media campaigns for higher education institutions, particularly those targeting adult and non-traditional learners.
- Demonstrated experience in planning, executing, and optimizing paid social media advertising campaigns on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
- Experience using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Meta Ads Manager, and Hootsuite/Buffer to assess campaign performance, identify trends, and optimize strategies.
